    1) According to microsoft, yes, that's exactly how you clean transactional metadata, on the next reboot.
as for the crashed pc scenario you can always use a warning note/pop up window next to the setting.

    2) Maybe it's more secure but this way doesn't follows microsoft's documentation, and if i had to choose between overwriting and deleting/rebuilding i'd always choose the latter. deleting the USN Journal is not slow at all, in fact it's the same if not faster than deleting the pagefile which PrivaZer has an option for, the same applies for rebuilding the index. I'm talking from a personal experience with a ten years old CPU/HDD.

in any case, thanks for your answer.

Hello. I'm currently running DEV build 22000.51/Windows 11 and lately, several icons in the Search app have been missing. Is it possible PrivaZer can access these icons in the Search app during the scan and cleanup? I'm trying to figure out why this is happening. There were over 800 icons in the cache the last time.

Edit: I have not changed any setting in PrivaZer and did not have this issue in Windows 10.

    Thanks.

    Hello @Nanobot,

    1) ok with the warning. We will work on it.
    2) simply deleting the USN journal with the command, will not make sure it is gone for good. It's just a simple deletion.

    Hello @plat1098,
Windows 11 dev build not tested yet.
PrivaZer does not delete the icons in the Search app. Maybe they are cached somewhere and the cache gets removed by PrivaZer.
    More investigation needed.

Sometimes when i do a full scan i have to stop PrivaZer when its done almost 30 or more percent of used free space, does that mean it does not overwrite what was scanned?

    Hello @bozzy,
It means 30% of the traces found in the free space during the scan have been overwritten (=cleaned). 70% were not.

Hello. Also, I found that it's not cleaning out the Event Viewer logs since the past week, All settings to clean things out after it's finished scanning are checked--including LOG files. I haven't touched any settings but if there's something not correct on here from what you can tell from the screenshot, pls. inform me.

So, whenever you get the chance and the time, maybe you can look into this. Windows 11 DEV build 22000.51. Please note in the SNIP that PrivaZer is named in an ESENT informational log.
    Thanks!

I'm not offered 4.0.27 here. It shows on .26, 'No new update available'. Looks like I'll have to manually download this one.

I didn't get it thru the UI either. So, I got it off the PrivaZer website.

Question: there was something else running concurrently w/PrivaZer today and for once, I had to enable the Boost feature at the bottom of the UI. Why can't this be incorporated into the engine instead of making it separate? It really helps move things along.

    • 4.0.27 update is now offered (direct update from PrivaZer app available)

    • Boost is an option that can be remembered by PrivaZer for the next cleanups. Simply click on it once.
Why not enabled by default ?
Some users may want to use their PC while they are cleaning with PrivaZer which should not use high resources then.

@The_PrivaZer_Team - FYI, PrivaZer does not clean the download history in Vivaldi (in the side panel).

I am using PrivaZer version 4.0.27 and Vivaldi (64-bit) version 4.0.2312.38. Can you please investigate? Thanks!

(And yes, I have the "downloads" box checked under where it says, "Internet Browsing" > "Edge [Chromium], Vivaldi.")

Another question on used free space cleaning, i ran PrivaZer with all boxes checked and Smart cleanup (recommended) on the latest PrivaZer download, after it finished i ran Wise Care 365 pro and ran its disk eraser checkup tool, it tells me i have many recoverable files in free space. How can this happen? and what method of overwrite is Smart cleanup? I have tried this twice same result.

Does it scan the entire space of your storage or only the free space?

I am not sure about that, i was thinking it was just free space. but i run PrivaZer with all boxes checked so i would have thought everything was wiped already

Recover tools usually scan the entire space, not only the free space.
Thus, they may "recover" still existing files, maybe not what you expected.

Can you check if those recovered files correspond to files that still exist on your storage or to files that were deleted?
