Minimum, 40% of Windows 10 users worldwide have that "Bios Legacy and/or Secure Boot - unsupported" issue.

I hope so as well and I am expecting that to be the case but I do not get to decide. They set an expectation that it was coming. They will get a lot of complaints if it does not.

I have not either. Also every time I boot up my Windows 11 VM "Virus and threat protection" is disabled. Even if I enable it manually it is disabled again on next boot.

Let me test that. Mine is at work and has ESET Endpoint Protection installed so have not noticed.

Re: CU 5004564, I do not make this up, honest.

xxJackxx: I'm also experiencing this but it's the Automatic Sample submission component. Are you able to get Core Isolation/Memory Integrity enabled in the Device Security section? It's not even listed there any more for me. Plus now after all this effort to get this machine compliant, it's saying "Standard hardware security not supported." Already submitted to Feedback Hub but checking with otthers who run W11 helps.

Microsoft has run out of ideas and is now aping design elements from Apple and Linux. Is the new interface a compelling update? You can already have a dock on Windows 10 with Winstep Nexus Dock.

Still short of launcher real estate? Pin more in Itlogic's full screen PaperPlane launcher. Both are free.

It is very Apple like but I actually find myself liking Windows 11. I'm not a huge fan of the new start menu but I do like the new Settings app. We'll see if I get to run it beyond my very late model laptop.

"Windows 11’s Security Push Puts Microsoft on a Collision Course

The minimum hardware requirements for Microsoft’s next operating system will leave plenty of PCs stranded...

Same for me, I love to test new OS's, but if it involves buying a new machine or spending money for hardware changes, it's a no go. The cynical in me thinks that it could be a ploy from MS and main computer manufactures to force users to buy a new machine invoking security as an alibi, maybe farfetched but a win win situation for them, not for us though...

This is the most egregious example I've seen so far. And worse, people will probably still be buying it Hope they ask the right questions in-store. Has an out-dated gpu too ("up to" NVIDIA 1070 as shown on the Surface Studio 2 site). Foolish, foolish. There's some things we're not being told for whatever reasons. I bet my lunch money on it.

There'll be millions of users who meet the minimum technical spec but still wont switch to Windows11 as they haven't got the knowledge or inclination to add a TPM chip or change BIOS settings. I have no intention of spending money on new computers anytime soon. I've just installed Linux Mint (Cinnamon) on my oldest laptop for a play....

Agree with you. But we have four years ahead of us with Windows 10, so many things may happen in the mean time

You can add any DNS with DoH support. You just have to switch it to encrypted manually afterwards.
    Code:
    netsh dns add encryption server=185.228.168.10 dohtemplate=https://doh.cleanbrowsing.org/doh/adult-filter autoupgrade=yes udpfallback=no
    netsh dns add encryption server=185.228.169.11 dohtemplate=https://doh.cleanbrowsing.org/doh/adult-filter autoupgrade=yes udpfallback=no
wmic nicconfig where DHCPEnabled=TRUE call SetDNSServerSearchOrder ("185.228.168.10","185.228.169.11")
    ms-settings:network-ethernet

Windows 11 - How to install the preview Dev release

Let's talk about Windows 10+1. I mean Windows 11. First, let's start with a guide showing how to download and install Windows 11 Dev builds, covering topics like hardware requirements - processor and TPM, Windows Insider Program, telemetry, registry tweaks, problems and errors getting Windows 11 installed, testing on a laptop with AMD Ryzen 5 processor, testing in a virtual machine on a laptop with Intel 8th gen processor, single-boot and triple-boot scenario with Linux, some other observations, and more. Next, we do a proper review. Take a look.

Thanks for this nice article. It seems there were some challenges getting Windows 11 installed, with no Insiders channel at one point. Strangely, my upgrade experience was very smooth, from a bootleg "leaked" ISO, then smooshing the official DEV build over the top. It currently runs very well.

I will be interested in reading about your impressions of running Windows 11 day-to-day.

Seriously, I still don't know why M$ can't fix such a simple thing? This is the reason I was seriously considering to switch to a Mac.

LOL, I thought I was the only one who was having these problems. It's the dumbest thing ever and yes, the "fix scaling for apps" does nothing. Like you said, if they bring back the "system wide DPI scaling" setting it would probably fix most of the problems.

Same over here, Win 11 brings some minor improvements, but that's it. All in all very disappointing, there is nothing truly exciting about it and what's up with all of these ridiculous system requirements.

Agreed. There is nothing to justify the requirements. It will obviously run on a lesser machine. They should have been phasing this stuff in gradually. They're going to complain about the low adoption rate because most people can't afford to replace a PC that works fine now.
