I have the paid version of MacriumReflect 7 as my primary Backup/Restore program. And, I have created Rescue Medium, using the Macrium Rescue Media Builder, which I keep up to date. As a secondary Backup/Restore program I was using EaseUS ToDo Backup Free. Recently, I attempted to make a current Emergency Disk with EaseUS ToDo, but the program would not recognize my USB Disk as being formatted. My question(s) is: 1) Do I need a secondary Backup/Restore Program? 2) Since I can use EaseUS ToDo to make backups do I need to worry about not having an EaseUS ToDo Emergency Disk? 3) If I need a Secondary Backup/Restore Program, and since I am having a problem with EaseUS Todo is there another free program you would recommend. As always I appreciate all replies and would thank you in advance. John
Aomei backupper is recommended by many, and it is free. Good luck. https://www.aomeitech.com/ab/standard.html Acadia
It seems that every time I have installed Aomei Backupper on my system, I have had serious problems with my system. It may not have anything to do with Aomei Backupper at all, but after a while it becomes too much of a coincidence. Thanks for responding
Here's a recent post that might help https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/a-free-program-that-makes-images-of-linux-os-from-a-boot-cd-or-usb.437477/
I have the Windows Kit that will allow me to make a bootable disk, but I am not to that point. I was more in hopes of learning if most of our members have more than one Backup/Restore program. And, if so what it is and if they would recommend it. My problem may be resolved by simply using another USB disk. Thanks for responding.
I use (2) imaging backup methods on most of my Systems, both are paid versions... Macrium REFLECT and Terabytes DIBR (Drive Image Backup & Restore...old "Image For Windows"). Both are excellent, trouble free products... never an issue with images or restorations.
I have the same exact experience. I'd recommend either one of these apps and have never had an issue with either one.
Aomei backupper is a seriously overrated POS. Used it once and it failed a restore. Luckily I had Terabyte Image for Windows which saved my day. I have been using Terabyte IFW since then and never have any problem either backup or restore.
I've had no issues with it, although restoring from backups is something that I very rarely do. Considering that it is very popular, I assume that few people have issues with it. A single bad experience, does not mean too much, as all backup software can have issues occasionally. Many years ago I had issues with Acronis and Paragon.
I'm currently using the paid version of Macrium Reflect 8. It has never let me down; it always does what it's supposed to do, so I do not feel the need for a secondary backup program.
Redundancy in backup systems is useful especially for important business and large corporations. As a private user, Macrium (free and paid) in the last 6 years has never failed a restore (and I've done hundreds of them). I don't see the need to install a second backup program, although every month or so, I create a duplicate of my important data for my peace of mind.
You can enable PreOS. It would take a catastrophic failure to damage bootloader. https://www.easeus.com/support/todo-backup/enable-disable-pre-os.html I had issues with every other backup software, EaseUS is the only one that works for me, it does not have dependencies that tend to break things and it is really easy to use.
Are you using free version of EaseUS or paid? It seems that the PreOS feature is slightly limited in the free version. I had one failure with Aomei so it's difficult for me to go back to it. Macrium never failed me but I have to confirm many things multiple times with a delay in between while backupping which bothers me a bit. With Aomei it is basically two clicks to make a backup and the process is also faster than Macrium. So now thinking about giving EaseUS a try. Is the free version has any drastic limitations?

Do you use EaseUS Todo Backup Free or Home version? Does EaseUS Todo Backup Free version show ads in the interface or pop-up ads?
Do you use Aomei Backupper Std or Pro version? How much time Aomei Backupper Incremental Backup takes on your system?
Free Yes, it asks you to upgrade here and then, but I believe only when allowed in the firewall? I do not recall seeing any AD popups lately.
I usually use the free version, as I don't need any of the extra functionality the paid version provides. The time will vary greatly from one system to the next, depending on if you're using hard drives or SSDs and the amount of data being backed up.
Thank you for the info. I tried Aomei a few times previously. Full and Incremental Backup performed nearly the same. For ex- Full in 20 mins and Incremental in 15 mins. I want to know if they have improved the Incremental Backup performance. What's the Full and Incremental Backup performance (time) on your system?
I've never done an incremental backup. I think it takes a few hours for a full backup for me. I start it at night before I go to bed and have never taken much notice of the time it takes, as I'm away from my computer.
I tried Aomei Backupper Pro Trial, and EaseUS Todo Backup Home Trial. Aomei (approx. time) Full Backup - 13 mins Incremental Backup 1 - 6 mins Incremental Backup 2 - 6 mins Incremental Backup 3 - 6 mins Created backups were good. EaseUS (approx. time) Full Backup - 15 mins Incremental Backup 1 - 6 mins Incremental Backup 2 - 1 min Incremental Backup 3 - 1 min Created backups were good. Aomei seems to run the same process for each incremental backup. (kinda complete check) EaseUS seems to check for the changes only. (kinda changes since last incremental) Aomei PreOS-console When I entered the PreOS-console, a DOS screen mentioned something like “unable to load Aomei driver or something”. And it continued and everything was fine and working. EaseUS PreOS-console No issue. Win 10 Pro 64-bit (up-to-date) 6 GB RAM 500 GB HDD 29 GB/97 GB (system drive) Created System Backup only on another partition.
