    Finally, someone who gets it!

It's a typical MS "testing the waters" strategy, make no mistake tho all these restrictions will eventually return back in the future, in one way or another, and gradually, with each new major feature release. It's more than obvious that they want full control of the OS and sadly that's what they'll get because the vast majority don't know/care about any of these stuff.

You have i9, you could have just activate IPTT (fTPM for AMD), I do not have TPM either, but my CPU supports it nevertheless. By the way, the tool uses PS, thus it did not work for me, I have PS removed. :ouch:

M$ PC Health Check shows her 'not so old' ThinkPad 13 as incompatible with Win 11, and WhyNotWin11 highlights the CPU Generation i7-7500U as the only suspect (amber '?').
The laptop is speedy and otherwise perfect. So she will be stuck on Win 10?

Is that CPU yellow a show stopper Krusty? Got the same thing on one of the laptops at work. If so, the majority of our users won't be able to run 11.

@xxJackxx I hear you with being on a domain. What a pain in the butt. I tried that third party tool and that worked, though I received the same error with the CPU that Krusty got.

You're right 100%. I actually found the TPM in the BIOS after I had already ordered the TPM chip from Newegg. It was literally buried in a section I've never even heard of and went by an unfamiliar name. (PCH/FW in Advanced options.) Only out 16 USD, big whoop. :)

Personally, I was curious to see what the big deal about 11 was. Turns out, nothing major, imo. I guess it was boredom that drove this whole thing. What bothers me though is how some people react when they're told their otherwise capable machines "can't run Windows 11." It's more like: Microsoft won't let them run it. :cautious:

What a major waste of electronics, I can just see it now. Folks discarding their perfectly fine hardware just for Windows 11. As if the landfills weren't already toxic enough.

If I would bet, I would say that they will remove this restriction when Windows 11 gets released. No way that they would block millions of their users using latest OS. They will surely want their users to migrate to W11 as soon as possible.

Yup, if W11 can't be installed on at least 80% of Windows computers now then whats the point of even making it?

PC Health reports no-go on my hybrid - a 2016 Spectre x2 12-a400TU. WhyNotWin11 reports everything in the green except for the CPU, which is a yellow question mark. The CPU is a bit of an odd-ball I'll admit - it's a passively cooled Intel m7-6Y75. Like on the old Surfaces.

On the Gigabyte p37x V5 (circa late 2015) it has a yellow for the CPU (i7-6700HQ). It has a red for Secure Boot, which is an option on my PC but is disabled because one of the Win 10 feature updates would not install with it enabled, and would not load on a reboot if re-enabled after installation. Can't remember which update that was, it was about 2 years ago (admittedly I've not tried re-enabling it with 21H1 - will do so later). It reports red for the TPM. Not sure this machine has a TPM or if it's just not enabled in the BIOS. Another thing to check later.

Either way I'm not worried if these two don't receive updates. I really like Win 10 and doubt either machine will out-live that OS.

I'm not sure Trooper. Maybe it just hasn't been confirmed either way as yet, hence the '?'.

Thanks Mr Frog. I'm hoping that it might make it over the line by the time it gets released but I'm not going to be one of the first to try Win11. It took a while for me to get used to Win10 after Win7 and I don't see anything compelling with Win11 to make the change.

Well for once, MS will have to blame themselves for blocking the upgrade to millions. I will remain with Windows 10 if the upgrade requires spending money either for a fee or for adding TPM. I also think they will probably lift this restriction once the upgrade is available.

to notice: this is not in general, only with a driver which includes that files.

Well, I read this article also and it made you wonder if Secure Boot is as good as the signing ability of Microsoft.

But there's a later article, published by Microsoft, and referenced by the same author, that states the rootkit driver was intended for gamers in certain regions in China, in order to cheat (spoof the gamer's location).

What a joke! My pc is 3 yrs old, it has TPM v2.0 and processor specs are: Intel(R) Core(TM) i5-7200U CPU @ 2.50GHz 2.70 GHz, but according to the PC Health check the processor isn't supported for Windows 11.

Built an appx. 20.7gB image into a 60gB partition, then shrunk that 60gB part. to 40gB... no issues that I've detected yet.

Good to hear, that is hopeful.

What is not, is that my Pc, according to the requirements can run W11 but the different test tools says no. It has something with the CPU to do. Or the combination of CPU and TPM. Do not know yet.

But i could install and run it when testing the other day after changing the W11 ISO`s Source folder.
    Hmm.

Is anyone else around here running Windows 11 right now? Is your Widgets app working? Mine showed up on the taskbar and then didn't work (endlessly loading) Then it disappeared altogether--can't find it. Oh well, no News & Interests soup for me. :)

Good news: Paint (not 3D) is still there but needs to be searched for, it's not in the right-click context menu any more. Let's hope it stays that way thru the release to the Dev channel this coming week.
