Hi WV Hope that you are well? I have given up with the v3.0 beta as the effect on my system was becoming intolerable. Have reverted to v2.73 Final, which is running sweet as a nut. Hoping that the next version is around the corner, so that I can get back to testing. Cheers, Baldrick
Hi Tarnak, Please wait for the next version and see if the problem persists or not. However, It seems to be something wrong with your computer, the temp folder should not be read-only under normal circumstances.
Hi, It seems that Windows Defender tried to modify the WVSX's ransomware trap folder. We have solved this issue, thank you for your feedback.
Hi Krusty, Thanks for your feedback. This is a FP generated by behavior monitoring, we have fixed it.
Hi Baldrick, We are working hard to solve all the issues reported by beta testers. Thank you for the patience
Hi WV Thanks for the response. I was sure that you & the team are given your sterling response times so far. Regards, Baldrick
I am using CFW with Cs settings, and I would like to use it along with WVStopx v2.73 due to being a free version, and its simplicity. So I would like to know whether v2.73 will continue to be supported with updates or will v3.0 eventually replace it offering two flavors: Free and Paid. Imo v2.73 should continue for those who us who like simple, and great protection, and v3.0 should be offered as a pay version for those who like, and are prepared to deal with the more advanced features.
Wisevector mentioned before that there will be 2 products. V3 free and paid. Free will get web protection (anything else is planned to be added to free or thats it? @WiseVector) and i think everything we had in 2.73 would still be there. Paid will have other features like hips firewall ids etc. There is no reason to stay on v2. 73 as v3 has more improved potection + additional features so i dont believe v2. 73 will be supported for too long if at all they choose to keep it on the table.
Ok, so I finally figured out why WiseVector (and accompanying components) wasn't starting up at each boot on an 8.1 box. Seems the Task Scheduler was fudged up someway somehow. Done some delving and reassessing and that's all cleared up now. Whew! Windows 11 right smack on the horizon of making a debut and i'm still maneuvering around in 8.1 to iron out it's own little quirks and mishaps. Btw. Nice artistic touch the team is done with the WVSX gui. Quite a show grabber as much as the inner workings!
@WiseVector At Malwaretips a user, bulamber mentioned they had freezing problems, and you asked if they used OpenVPN. I am using Windscribe which loads at startup, automatically. I just got the freezing/not loading a page in my Opera browser, and also [when] trying to open Process Hacker. However, when I shutdown WVSX, my problems went away. So, it doesn't like my VPN protocols, perhaps.
Q.E.D. Started WVSX, and updated no problem. Also, shutdown Windscribe. However, when I tried to login to Wilders' forum, and this page in particular it wouldn't load. So, I exited WVSX, and I was back in.
Where is the Rules Manager located? I'm using WiseVector Stopx beta 3.0, and I can't find the Rules Manager anywhere. I have WiseVector HIPS set to Rules-Base Mode. Edit 6-28-21 @ 12:07 I found the Rules Manager. It's only available from the tray icon. Is that correct?
I ticked DeviceCensus.exe in the rules editor and then I clicked the edit button. I expected it to bring up DeviceCensus.exe, but instead it brings up OneDriveSetup.exe. OneDriveSetup is the first item on the list. I don't know if that has anything to do with it or not. I would upload a screenshot, but I can't do it from Virtualbox since I don't have Keepass on my guest OS (I have a very long password and I use Keepass to login to wilders). I also am unable to access my external drives to save the screenshot to them either due to a bug with Virtualbox, so I can't upload the screenshot using the Host OS either. I think it's time to switch to different virtual machine software, since Virtualbox is too buggy on my setup. I'm having other problems with it as well.
Hi, Please disable "Automatically download and install program updates", if you want to keep using v2.73 for free.
Hi, We have tested. Even when only use Windscribe without Yes, Web protection is free. Other features like HIPS rules, firewall, ids will be paid features
We also have other users reported there were some problems with Windscribe VPN. We have downloaded their Windows client but we can't get it to work. When Windscribe is running, the browser always give us "ERROR_NETWORK_ACCESS_DENIED" error code even when WVSX is not installed. We will get a Pro account and generate OpenVPN configs to see what happens.
Hi Cutting_Edgetech, Thanks for your feedback. Yes, currently the rules manager is only available from the tray icon. The second issue you mentioned is a known bug, we will fixed it in the next version. Now you can double-click on a rule in the rules manager to edit it.
I completely understand your point. But if you decided to sell WSVX license available for a "long period" of time (like 3-5 years) at an attractive price compared to 3-5 times the price of one year license, I very probably would buy one. Setting up a new business generally costs a lot at the beginning, after what the cost evolution pattern becomes more smooth. Offering attractive prices for 3-5 years license could help your business in its mots critical phase.
Running WiseVector on a fresh XP install, with SP3 installed as well as the unofficial SP4 and post-SP4 update. Many times, after logging in, WV will freeze my taskbar and prevent me from opening programs, including Task Manager. This usually prevents me from using the Start Menu and therefore bars me from shutting down without holding down the power button. On the rare occasion that nothing has frozen, I will be alerted that "NotifyMsg" is not responding and will be given the option to end the task. After ending the task, the system will wait about half a minute to start shutting down. This happens with both 2.73 and the 3.00 beta, so I don't think it's a conflict with the Windows Firewall (which I have not disabled). Disabling automatic updates for WV also had no effect. After installing WV (which I have to do in Safe Mode), the problem vanishes. Is there anything I can do to prevent this problem, or should I wait for the next version?
