Hello there again @chrome_sturmen - Didn't we cross discussions in old Raxco days? Good to see ya still keeping up with goings on of different sorts.

We might think by now after the long run with Telemetry that Micro may finally do away with all their octopus porcupine data trackings and leave users be users in peace for a change. Will that change in 11? It's anyone's guess but as the saying goes, old habits are hard to break. But not impossible.

    Have a good week

It's this stuff that I'm worried about, and I see absolutely nothing interesting in the Win 11 preview, very disappointing. I would have liked to see improvements in Win Explorer, Win Defender, Win Update and the Win Store. And what about the ridiculous issues with DPI scaling? With that I mean apps looking either blurry or too small on systems that do not use a scale of 100%, which is the case on most machines AFAIK.

LOL, are you trying to say that this was never fixed in Win 10? What a joke.

Nope, DPI scaling is broken ever since Windows 7. Windows 7 applied a system wide DPI scaling which worked perfectly. Ever since Windows 8 to 10 and now 11, DPI scaling on a per app basis, half the apps I use look blurry even when doing the compatibility trick to set the scaling to System or System Enhanced. So sad that Microsoft can't fix this sat this day and age when lots of laptops have 4K screens. One a big monitor, perhaps one can get away without doing any scaling and still be able to see stuff but on a 17 inch and less, DPI scaling is a must.

Only Apple seems to have this mastered.

    On a positive note though:

1- Love the fluid animations, my 60hz 4K OLED panel felt so jerky in Windows 10, with Windows 11, it feels like a 90hz panel, animations are so fluid and smooth.
2- The snappiness is just insane even with animations turned on compared to Windows 10
3- Default apps finally has a search bar enabling you to quickly find the extension you want to associate a program to:

A point well taken and absolutely valid.

They have work to do and not skirting matters as this for the popularity marketing schemes arena which they push to showcase how advance they purpose to be. And that is not all. Other tasks and corrections needs be addressed. A list while not exactly exhaustive in and of itself but indeed a healthy workload should they decide to get off the high horse and really dig in.

I remember I think it was last year when Microsoft stated that they will fix this, they then introduced this feature in settings, it does absolutely nothing. All my apps are blurry with a 250% DPI scaling, popular apps that are constantly updated even such as oceanaudio, Movavi Video Editor, Movavi Video Converter, yet other apps are perfect such as IDM (Internet Download Manager), FastStone Capture, Microsoft Office. Heck even if you launch Disk Management or Services.msc they are blurry! those are built in OS tools for God's sake. There is no rule, the DPI scaling has a mind of its own.

I've been hearing talk of "Windows 11" for at least 2 weeks so I don't feel that everyone missed it. Some were in denial of it.

What marketing drama. Just release it and get on with it already. So silly, imo.

Interesting and noteworthy they are coming around to better window customizing.
I still use and it does work to perfection old Windows 98SE Madotate as well as WinFlip. For convenience and for those multitaskers, there's nothing like temporarily having windows set in view but minimized diagonally in a 3D position with transparency. That long abandoned Madotate does just that even on Windows 10 with ease.

Sure, under VMware it installs not only under non-SECURE BOOT but also on a Legacy-MBR (BiOS) configuration providing for a System Reserved (ACTIVE) partition, OS partition and a MicroSloth RECOVERY partition.

BUT... on real hardware (HP 4th Gen Intel) it refuses to run saying incompatible configuration... both in MBR config and UEFI Secure Boot config. Only thing missing is TPM v2.

To satisfy a curiosity, I got a hold of a leaked ISO that contains the bypass of the TPM (which I don't have). It doesn't install --"fails during the second boot phase." Why? I had not provisioned the keys for Secure Boot on this ASUS motherboard.

You need Secure Boot enabled in order to install the leaked ISO on bare metal, it seems. But there's an ISO available that you can use easily if you don't have a Trusted Platform Module. Not sure if I'm allowed to post that link here. Whatever, it's out there if you know where to look.

It's a leaked copy that was not meant for the general public. I have large doubts the final release will function this way. If they were going to go to that extreme I would think they would also drop 32 bit, which they do not seem to be doing.

OK, yes, you're right. One of my two sources for the leaked ISO was in fact taken down as per your posted info. The other one with the TPM work-around is still up. :D.
