I personally would never use such snake oil tools or have them come near my system even if you paid me. To each his own off-course.

After an anti-virus (if I'm not using WD) the first program I install on all my PC's is Kerish Doctor. Love, love the program and wouldn't be without it. You can call it snake oil all you want, but it's an awesome program.

I only use the cleaning function, weekly (no real-time mode) - and WDC. :thumb:

    CCleaner (via PortableApps) daily.

No particular reason. I use a number of portables via PortableApps, so CCleaner is just one of them - updates quite reliably.

    Seriously? 66meg install and cleaner-exe itself 100megs (all: 186megs) - for a cleaner?
based on a chromium build - its not possible to run it inside sandboxie (ok, does not makes sense, but for testing purpose only)

"gesehen, gelacht, F8" (seen, loughed - F 8 (F8 was the delete function in norton commander) :D

It runs perfectly here on Sandboxie. Must be something wrong on your side.

which build of sandboxie are you running? this test was with 5.49.8 (not plus). 2 tasks running, but not showing, win8.

#edit: SB 5.50.1 on win8 - no luck, same on win10 - running, but i see a crash manager appearing, running net.exe/cmd.exe - maybe it is needed to clean up, but for the principal work it is not needed. strange.

Then it must be a windows 8 issue, cant be 32- or 64-bit issue otherwise it wont start or throw an error. nevertheless - tools no one needs and not this bloated. Or install Avira or Avast (belongs to NortonLifeLock), both have a system cleaner in their silly antivirus.

ditched ccleaner and i'm quite happy i did. i use rwc, privazer, kcleaner, bleachbit, wdc, cyberscrub, east-tec eraser and a few others. and i especially like privazer and kcleaner because, unlike @Stephen CCleaner , @The_PrivaZer_Team and @Kyle_Katarn listen to their users and value user feedback.

@imdb this was the last bit of the straw, I'm switching to R-Wipe as per your recommendation!

In 5.82 the Driver Updater is only able to be used for actual updates if you have a CC Pro version.
You can do a scan in the free version.

They don't seem to have tested it for very long. Wonder what feature they will add next
