Cool, thanks for checking this in your VM. :) It was so indicated in the Windows 11 thread over at Malwaretips. More annoyed than panic-stricken; still, iit's a relief if not needed.

    I'm so lazy. :cautious:

Yes, it's isn't needed and another individual has confirmed to me the same. I couldn't imagine it being required, I have access to only 1 PC that has secure boot so that would really make for a very small pool of potential upgraders.

    Hi
i like a lot the windows corners rounded and not squared like w10 version
i don't think microsoft will change it in windows 10
i wonder if we could upgrade from w10 to w11 or do we need a new installation
about the official release date ,there is nothing isn't it?
    thanks Jack

No, I'll doubt they will apply any of the cosmetic changes (rounded corners, etc.) to Windows 10.
I'm sure an upgrade will be possible if not easy.
I've heard claims of an October release, but that is purely speculation.

    Oh Man @stapp.

Thanks for that. Long time member over there, especially for EightForums. Pulled this bacon out of the fire many times where even Google sources were limited.

Wow they was quick to jump right on it. Wonder how long it will be for an official release and roll out commercially to notes, laptops etc. It sure looks awesome, more in line with the times. /Downloading the ISO now.

Okay, curious. I'll probably stay with Win 8.1 Pro, but have to ask. The GUI looks nice, kind of like Linux. Looks don't matter much if it's the same buggy mess under the hood, though. Have they actually fixed what runs the OS, or just made it pretty?

As a Windows personal customizer (Use Types to replace ALL win default folder/files icons etc) (Madotate for amazing 3D window minimizing ON SCREEN) (even WinFlip). Windows will never (for whatever reason) fashion the GUI with such specialties even though the resource hit is purely null.

That said, the Windows 11 sleek new appearance is a plus IMHO. Look at Aoemi Backupper or WiseVector Stop X for 2 examples. Those softs have the lightweight flat more ultra modern GUI in line with next gen one should expect and they have accomplished.

I will NEVER part with 8.1. Performance and Stability are unsurpassed even with Windows 10 on this end. I'll say it again. Microsoft needs pull the porcupine needles of Telemetry completely out. Maybe they will.

I'm going to expect that most of the changes are cosmetic. That said I have very little actual complaint with Windows 10 and would take it over 8.1 any time so my opinion is likely of little value to you. :D

LOL ... Three times I've updated to Win 10 Pro, the last a clean install because it's supposed to be better than the upgrade. Three times I ran it for over a month, figuring once everything settled down it would speed up. Three times I've gone back to Win 8.1 Pro, which is as stable or better, it's faster, and just a better user experience - for me, anyway. Pretty, cute, cool looking GUIs are fine, but if the guts don't improve to match the graphics, the looks don't matter. You can probably paint a lump of coal to look like a big, beautiful diamond, but it's still a lump of coal.

This is no exaggeration. My 8.1 systems running on Gateway Asus meager 4Gb memory blows Windows 10 completely away with snappiness and excels in performance. So much so that I now want to save enough to buy a good higher end laptop with strong specs like solid state CPU, big memory and strong video card to see how 8.1 runs on a rig like that.

Just bought a new DELL with Windows 10 and thanks to stupid Telemetry and a ton of services just to make the thing function, it's really no contest compared to the much older Gateway NE56R31u sporting a zippidy Windows 8.1

All that said, I have very high expectations for the new Windows 11

It all varies greatly from one PC to the next. Always go with what works best for your PC. :thumb:

Well some things don't change and the phenomenon of Windows desktop backgrounds looking way better on websites than on my desktop continues. I must have tried so many, like the green field and the green-blue Vista streaks--no, they all look like crap on here. Shoot! There was one--the colorful globs one--that almost but not quite made it.

Thanks for sharing this, though. I may revisit it later. :)
