Out-of-band update to address an issue preventing installing or opening Xbox Game Pass games
You do not need to install this update if you are not experiencing this issue.

For the first time in months, the current month's dot NET update for 20H2 installed without the error message "already installed." Also the June CU went smoothly. One weird thing: with the new weather notification active, it prevented the Slimjet weather app from working. Disabling the MS news/weather app caused the Slimjet weather app to spring back to life. Interesting. The last Windows Update seems to have fixed the problem I was having with Microsoft Store in one of my machines...

Same on my new Windows 10. Barely a month in and it wasn't so discouraging as a skeptic that I thought it might would have been. I attribute that satisfaction to the updates making no issues (so far) and MicrosoftDefender AV which I can actually stomach in it's current way. With WVSX in tandem it's sufficient. No need to throw good money to subscribe for an alternative. That pleases me a lot.

    Decided to check Windows Updates:

But, from then on it got strange, asking for a restart, when it seemed to be downloading still, and finally I did restart:

Then, after the restart, I got Controlled Folder access warning, or at least I think I got the warning appearing, after the restart.

I really don't understand why the update process is proceeding in this strange way. I will just have to stick with it to the end:

The path was long and winding, but it was the outcome that mattered:

It truly was, as can be seen by the various updates along the way... ;)

They changed this several months ago. I don't like it but it works like it works so nothing is actually wrong if that was your concern.

Thanks :thumb: It is the first time that I had seen it work that way.

I did the June updates to 20H2, 64 bit, spinner HD. Version is now 19042.1052. It took about 50 minutes. One restart. No News and junk in the task bar.

    QUESTION:
I dual boot Win10 and 7. I'm always afraid that I'll miss the Thinkpad windows selection screen on restart. Is there anyway to tell windows "if you're updating windows 10, select windows 10 at bootup" otherwise it'll automatically go to 7 (my default) which at the time of update I do not want.

I also hate it when it says to reboot once something like .NET got installed, yet the other stuff is still downloading or installing. I've learned to wait till everything is installed, but I do wish M$ would delay their prompt to restart till really ready.
