Sorry, I don't live in Belarus now

I added the driver to MacriumRescue.iso, but I see the error: After adding any driver package(folder) to the folder C:\boot\macrium\WA10KDrivers\64Bit\Disk\ ... the time format in the output file changes: instead of 24-hour becomes 12-hour AM / PM.(!!)
This bug is repeated in all versions (7.3 or 8.0), PE10_1709/1809/2004.
It does not depend on the driver(VMD Intel RST, CardReader, etc.) and Macrium modification (Free, Home, etc.) :(

    Bug fixes and Improvements v8.0.5946 - 1st June 2021

    • BitLocker Restore
We've resolved a problem that caused partitions encrypted with BitLocker to fail to be restored if the BitLockered partition wasn't the first partition in the restore sequence, and a 'BitLocker live' restore was initiated.
We recommend re-building your rescue media if your system uses BitLocker encryption, or if you're unsure.

Thanks, @xxJackxx. Got the update via internal updater an hour ago. My system doesn't use BitLocker encryption, so there is probably no need to re-build my rescue media.

Be ready for the world's buggiest backup app. Now there will be an update every day for God's sake. These guys have no idea what is quality control. They have been beta testing it for more than 6 months and still to this date when I hit update via the internal updater, it wants to downgrade me to the last v7 version so I had to uninstall it and redownload the latest installer again.

Strange because it does not do that on my computer.

Are you running V8 Free? If so, that behavior is occurring because V8 Free has not officially launched yet -- here is a post from Macrium indicating that, and here is the page for Reflect Free which as of this writing still mentions V7. So if that's your situation, then rather than throwing shade at Macrium and the beta testers, perhaps your level of complaint should take into account that you are using an unreleased version of an application, and in fact a FREE application.

Also, you don't have to uninstall Reflect just to get the latest installer. You can download the installer and run it over whatever is already installed.

Strange man, I could've sworn I have installed my Home Edition with my license key but now when I checked, the license key was not there, it was blank so perhaps it was in trial mode or something that's why it was trying to download v7.

A brief quick question. Are we waiting on official Macrium 8 release? I mean a verified QC tested and stable release since some are saying their copy is reverting to version 7+ after checking for updates.

Drive Snapshot is working like a charm as it always has for me. As well as the older Macrium I use on my Windows 8.1. But I am anticipating installing the newly released and hopefully STABLE Version 8 free version whenever it becomes available. Then if satisfied to it's quality and expectations probably upgrade sometime thereafter.

Thanks and as always fantastic discussion in this thread.

It only reverts to 7 if you managed to find the installation for the free version, which is not officially released. The paid version works as expected.

I've never tried Drive Snapshot, how good/reliable is it compared to Macrium Reflect? Does it also do the automatic partition resizing for images that are being restored on different sized disks?

    @xxJackxx Thanks for your reply.

-Spartan DS is a separate and more simple but robust imaging program minus many features most are drawed to with Macrium like myself. However it is a Logical reliable secondary (or primary) backup/restore solution for simple tasks of plain backup/restore. I haven't tested it's partition resizing ability recently but in times past it reliable enough given ample space on larger size disks which I don't believe your asking about. I would reference your attention to the dedicated Drive Snapshot Topic where our Imaging Gurus and members alike can satisfy any questions you might be curious to learn of it more than I can offer.

You can download v8 Free from the secret link that everyone knows as «Le secret de Polichinelle», Free works just as well as the paid version.
Can a program with a distro size of 500kB (500kB) do the same as Macrium?

Its alright. Think i'll wait until they get their act together and in the meantime have a first try with Terabyte Image For Windows instead.

Drive Snapshot doesn't need anything more than what it's been for many years. A simple low key trimline effective backup and restore for Windows.

Macrium will support NumberPad (notebook Asus ZenBook)?
    Thanks

Probably depends on how that number pad function is implemented. If it’s managed purely in firmware and therefore the OS just sees it like a regular keyboard, then no special support would be required. If it only works when additional drivers are installed, then you’d have to see if the drivers can be loaded by WinPE/RE. I doubt Reflect’s own Rescue Media Builder would be updated to add those automatically, but you can manually copy them to Rescue Media or even the Rescue Media build folder so that they get included automatically from then on. But if the drivers don’t work in WinPE/RE, possibly because they require frameworks that aren’t present in that environment, then there wouldn’t be anything Macrium can do about that.

But how often are you using the number pad in Rescue anyway? Seems like a cool feature for general use, but I don’t type much in Rescue at all, and I type numbers even less. So not having a number pad doesn’t seem like a huge problem.

On the new ASUS Zenbook laptops with an Intel gen-11 processor, a combined NumberPad / touchpad is installed instead of a touchpad ... will this work as a touchpad for MacriumRescue.iso based on WinPE10?
A friend of mine said it didn't work for him, so he uses a mouse. No drivers help him, but if you create MacriumRescue.iso based on WinRE, then the touchpad works.
Also MacriumRescue "did not see" the NVMe SSD, so it needed the F6flpy-x64 (Intel® VMD) .zip driver

I think it will be useful if the Macrium developers have an ASUS Zenbook with an Intel gen-11 processor ;)

Yes I looked at that feature before I posted my earlier reply. But that doesn’t answer the question of whether that built-in number pad feature is managed purely in system firmware so that it’s transparent to the OS or requires OS drivers to be installed. And that means I still can’t answer your question any better than I already did.

Wait, so even the regular touchpad function doesn’t work? I thought the touchpad would at least work as a normal touchpad and it was just the built-in number pad feature that might not work. That’s frustrating, and seems like ASUS could have designed it differently to allow that.

Windows can add drivers into the WinRE partition, and if you create WinRE Rescue Media, then Reflect will use that as a starting point, and therefore its WinRE Rescue Media will have those drivers included, even though Reflect itself did not add them. So it sounds like this touchpad does require drivers, and they were added to the system’s WinRE when those drivers were installed in Windows. And since that allows the touchpad to work in that environment, that also suggests that it’s possible to add the necessary drivers manually to Rescue Media builds. You would just have to export the correct drivers from the system’s WinRE.wim file using a tool like DISM, then copy them to the Drivers folder for Reflect’s Rescue Media staging. And then it would probably work in WinPE 10. But that’s more than I really want to try to walk you through over a forum, and if WinRE is working — and in fact working BETTER right now — then there’s really no major benefit going to WinPE 10. If you’re trying to do that based on my earlier posts, then read THIS post as a recommendation to stick with WinRE in your case.

Needing to add a newer Rapid Storage driver manually can occur because Intel has used the same PCI DEV_ID for multiple generations of the controller. This can cause older Rapid Storage drivers already built into Windows PE/RE to appear compatible with your hardware even though it isn’t.

Yes, thanks .. we did a shaman dance with a tambourine in front of a laptop, now Macrium is working.;)
Hopefully in the future Macrium will add the necessary drivers to the assembly.

Version 8.0.5946. I was stupid enough to put a micro SD card in the slot in my laptop. Beyond the problem that it would not come back out and I had to find tools to remove it from the laptop, when I tried to launch Reflect it crashed so apparently it does not like for micro SD cards to be installed. I think the message said it created a dump to send by email but I don't remember where it said the file was located or what it was called. I was too irritated in the moment that there was no way to eject the card and not enough of it exposed to get a grip on it. This is probably something they'll want to look into but I have no intention of ever using the slot again so I won't be affected ongoing.

During the Beta testing period, I performed a lot of SD, uSD, UFD & MMC module testing without issue (using multi-format docks as well as USB adapters). Your experience may have been due to the status of that funny slot you were working with... maybe offering a bogus laptop status when you inserted the card.

If Windows could see that uSD properly mounted, Reflect v8 should be able to image it without issue...

Probably you tried this, but just in case: on my laptop first push of microSD card locks it in slot. Second push allows to eject/unlock it. Second push usually must be a little bit deeper into slot than first push. You don't pull that card until it is unlocked.

Dump files are created on the root of the C drive and are supported to be sent to support at Macrium dot com

Thanks for the tip. There was so little exposed I don't know that I could have pushed it any farther. But if I ever decide to try to use it again I will keep that in mind.

@jphughan Thanks for the info. I found it and I'll forward it on.

I had opened a Windows Explorer window and interacted with the files (all media, they played just fine).

    Edit:
To clarify I did not want or need to image this SD card, Reflect just would not run with it inserted.
