The bullet-proof solution to Ransomware?

I keep F-Secure + Heimdal.

As well as I believe that till your computer is connected to the internet, anything can happen.

So I have paid Dropbox and using it saving my imp folder and data.

Still, if the computer goes wrong, I can access my data on the cloud.

I read the article a while back. The problem is it will only stop in country Russia based attacks. Would have no effect on hackers located outside of Russia attacking Russian based concerns.

Thank you for sharing, a different view point, in which will make me look at things differently.

 

ransomware is not a thing in some countries unless you are unlucky and click and download some exe, I think companies are target of this

 

Ransomware seldom target home users. The criminal cybergangs target attacks on governments and corporations were the payoff from extortion is the biggest.

And which don't keep their security protocols up to date and where bugs are easily exploitable.

 

Too much paranoia about this stuff as I have argued to years. I am on the internet 13 hours a day and have for years and never-ever had any kind of malware infect my computers. I do a system image every day and use built-in Defender for Windows 10- that's it. Maybe there is a 1 out of 500,000 probability something will get me- but I'll bet against it.

 

So true.
While it was an issue in the days of WIN7, nowadays I see only one private machine/month, or less.
The few that came in didn't have Defender, or Kaspersky, but some other AV.

I use MD with Configure Defender on high, plus block on first sight

I couldn't install it on Win 8.1 and Win 10, it's best to stay away from this tool. It doesn't bring any new to the table. You are better off with tools like HitmanPro.Alert and AppCheck who already have a proven trackrecord but are of course not perfect either. You might find NeuShield interesting too.
