These are some interesting new companies that I didn't know about. A laptop that can be easily upgraded sounds kinda cool. Would you guys buy such a laptop? And Kano PC is a cool PC for kids. https://frame.work https://kano.me/eu/store/products/kano-pc
In my case, a cheap used business laptop or desktop does everything I need, so I avoid new systems. I just replace the system with another cheap one, when it no longer fits my needs. But I do like the concept of this.
13.5 inch 3:2 display only choice, doesn't even mention if it's IPS, no gpu (other than integrated), pass on the first one. Idk about the kano. Ok so you get the "educational and fun" experience of building a few red and blue blocks. And then what? You get some apps. Oh cool, as if I can't just download these... The specs are complete garbage for 350 euro. They want us to pay that much money for a few red and blue blocks? Cmon. Classic kids marketting to scam people out of their money. Although it does have a touchscreen. So idk what's the value of that. But every other spec is garbage. Terrible cpu, ****** hdd, small screen, bad resolution, 4gb ram etc. etc.
Having a laptop that is easy to upgrade is great. But there are still the HUGE problems with all laptops. (1) They remain extremely proprietary and that leads to (2) upgrade "options" remain extremely limited. In a PC, you can use an ASUS motherboard with an AMD processor and MSI NVIDIA graphics card, then next week, change it all out with a Gigabyte motherboard, Intel processor, and EVGA AMD graphics card. Then the next week, put all that in an entirely different case.
Yes correct, I see they will even offfer an option to replace the battery, I believe this can be a huge selling point for students and business people on the road. But it needs to be easy of course. Come on, cut them some slack. I believe this is for younger kids, I rather see them playing with this stuff than with Instagram Kids and YouTube.
BTW, I forget about them but seems like you can now pre-order the Framework laptop, it actually does look kinda cool. What do you guys think? https://frame.work/nl/en
