Is there not a way to fix these betas always being wrong? You will never become big program if there's so many errors and waiting for user to report each one. You gotta find what's making the error! Just imagine how many software is wrong but the users just haven't reported it because there's like 5-10 guys here using Sumo. Now imagine you had thousands or millions of customers. Your alghoritm or idk what it is, needs a lot of work.

Algorithm is "almost" robust except on a few cases like this one for which I rely on a handful of super users (with beta-tagging rights) and users reports like here.
I'll improve with some rules-based automation.

Kyle, just want to put in a good word for the work you do.

Use your program every day, no other program comes close - I have a large library of portables, and SUMo is invaluable to help me keep track of updates ... would be lost without it.
Where there is the occasional misstep i.e. beta, etc. it is quite plain to me and I just skip it.

I agree with all you say about SUMo:thumb:, but not reporting false positives by skipping and ignoring things does not help the quality of reporting that SUMO does. IMHO the developer needs to be aware if something is not functioning as it should. I too skip and ignore certain items, but these are things that I don't expect SUMo to handle for me.

[SUMo] Error Report for OpenXML/ODF Translator Command Line Tool by OpenXML/ODF Translator Team v 0.0.704.0 - SUMo reports Update available (1.0.0.0)

Both 64-bit and 32-bit. The version reported belongs to WinMerge2011. Sub-Product maybe?

That's what I thought, but it keeps appearing. Looks like 32-bit (I use both).

I'd support a manual "ignore" on this specific case.

The product version number is correct (1.0.0.0-.....) as far as I can see. I still don't understand why product version is not also checked when the file version fails. Is the product version not kept in the DB alongside the file version?

If so, an additional check should have found a match on the numbers. I'm sure there are a lot of cases like this where file and product versions are not the same. Simply using the highest version for the compare should take care of situations like this no?
