u don't loose data if its saved to usb and committed to real disk at same time, TF is temporary switch due to windows update that broke SD on 1 laptop but I am so happy right now since it's a clone to my eyes if u own 1 disk, really good stuff

Ah!.....TF doesn't have any option to commit to real disk until the system is properly ShutDown :'(
While on laptops, people are too lazy to shutdown for weeks/months - just close the lid and go. When the battery becomes dead, everything is gone :(

Your idea to backup on usb is definitely of worth and on my personal system I've already attached an external portable usb hard-disk for this purpose since last year - but its just a hassle. The better option is as @majoMo described in his post if you can spare some space for data partition.

that committ doesn't work if u are a cg artist of edit videos, its main purpose is perhaps small documents, inb4 corruptions happen ppl should know, that should be mentioned on SD site

the more the strain on system the more the committ is broken
the larger the file committed the more the comitt is broken too

and its not just me, ppl who don;t use pc intensively will miss this corruption of everything randmoly

PS 1. I wouldn't deactivate anything under potential attack, usb is better, u can scan usb with multiple solutions on next shadow mode\time freeze session and there are many options of securing usbs: binisoft usb flash drives control and panda usb vaccine
    2. use external usb\drives hybrids like WD , maybe there are more resilient

For three months, TF runs on Windows 10 v1809 x64, no problems were noticed.

What is the current version in the About?
If memory serves me well, not a freeware any more, right?

    Hi.
I want to install Toolwiz Time Freeze. Can I decrease the size of disk caching? (f. e. 1000mb) Because 5120mb seems a lot to me and I have a small hard drive. Thanks.

    Ah...!
Toolwiz Time Freeze was amazing piece of software that served well in its time and hopefully is still serving somewhere. Hats off to its developers!:thumb:

Just to ask "Is there any free software like Time Freeze available on Windows 10 that is under constant development?"

Agreed about Rollback, I wouldn't recommend it. Unfortunately DeepFreeze is not free, subscription based. ShadowDefender maybe an option, paid, but lifetime.

But not under, "constant development", as asked for, at the moment.

If there's no bugs or vulnerability's constant updates are really not necessary unless new features are added or keeping up with the latest operating system.

    https://www.shadowdefender.com/history.html

It works fine here since 2009. But again it is paid.

it's the only free alternative that's under constant development as requested by the op.

I forgot about the free in the question. Hmm.
Then there is no alternative as far as i know because RbRx home/free is not under development any more according to info on the homesite. It has not been updated since 2016.

For me TTF is slightly buggy on my system so i am considering a change to SD. Or wait until it shows up on a "giveaway site".

No...there is no free similar LV app. You should consider the best but paid alternative - Shadow Defender.

Light Virtualization (TTF, SD, DF) and Instant System Recovery (Rollback) applications are based on different technologies although results are quite similar.

I made a mistake yesterday, I installed Toolwiz Time Freeze from http://toolwiz.com/lead/toolwiz_time_freeze.php to test it.

It worked great when I tested it, but when I had to delete it I got a familiar experience, several folders with important programs had disappeared from my D:

Okay, I could of course restore it or transfer my copies from another disk, but had this happened with one that couldn't do this, then it wouldn't have been good. I will never more test this program. :(:(
