Drop me a private message, I'll send it to you if you have an email address

There are places to download it but I can't guarantee the integrity of the files

my version 519 came from shadowdefender dot com and is clean

If you can send sha256 of your installer file we can compare it to the 3rd party sites and check if a modification has been made

Thanks Floyd 57, I should have thought of that

I know that I'm 'preaching to the converted' but be careful downloading files from 3rd party sites.

My offer still stands to send my copy.

    is that version 1.4.0.519?

The reason I ask is that we are not just talking about old versions, just 1.4.0.519

1.4.0.519 came at a particular time and with new security update.
    'Version 1.4.0.519 - April 25, 2014
    New: Track 0 virtualization.
New: Hidden boot volume will be shadowed automatically when system volume is shadowed.
    Fixed: Some minor bugs.'

    Shadow Defender History

I believe that some later versions were geared up to meet the needs of new operating systems which (at that time) were not stable in themselves.

7 years we have gone from 1.4.0.519 to 1.5.0.726 lol

Oh, I just noticed that in the last 4 years (almost) there's been only 2 updates to shadow defender. Is this product abandoned?

    upload_2021-5-22_18-12-40.png

It seems like the development stopped in late 2017/early 2018. They made update for every major windows 10 update (the bi-yearly ones), as well as extra stuff. But since 4 years, only 2 updates. On the positive side, it means my version of SD that I got for free from sharewareonsale is not going to become obsolete anytime soon... 1.5.0.726. The version that is. The product might already be outdated... 4 years 2 updates.

For me, Shadow Defender is one of those programs I would hate to do without.

    +1

Shadow Defender is one of those rare programs that is proven it's metal and stood the long test of time. My only other is Drive Snapshot Imaging Programme.

Why are you using cracked software so you have to test it in SD first?

I must admit that when I was first beta testing @HeiDef's Ransom0ff with some really potent ransomware's I wasn't 100% certain that even Shadow Defender would lick all the problems with those novel Windows scramblers, but soon enough SD dumped anything and everything like it never existed. Then Ransom0ff operating solo without SD proved itself with flying colors.

So yeah from my own local testing Shadow Defender is levels above the worse of the worse. There was even a file infector that toasted the Shadow Defender folder and files but it's upper or lower driver filter of SD went untouched/unaffected and when the whole system seized up, pulled the plug on a hard reboot, and to my utter glee it was as nothing ever happened.

Hardly, this program stood the test of time and its strength remains its absolute resilience to the whims of Windows upgrades, as a matter of fact updates usually occur when there is a really major change in Windows. As Easter pointed out malware just can't beat it...

People ask me why I am obsessed by Shadow Defender 1.4.0.519 particularly when it was released such a long time ago.
For me it is whatever suits you and the ins and outs of your particular. hardware, operating system and apps and usage.
I would use most Shadow Defender versions and have only twice had major problems, mostly minor glitches such as missing icons and Shadow Defender's own missing icons or software losing registration or settings. (a long time ago in early versions).
One version which Tony withdrew immediately when I reported it, many years back. It was a 'system mangler'. I think it was 1.3. something.something...I can'r remember and I deleted it off my system. I otherwise keep a lot of versions.
A couple of times Tony changed a version quickly after release when there was a problem after I reported but kept the same release number after fix.
Tony and I disagreed on the subject of 1.4.0.519. When I said to him that (to me and in my experience) later versions were not as good and less stable.
Tony felt that later versions were better but in my own experience some later versions were (to me) glitchy and I had reports from members (as well as my own experience) of glitches that had been iradicated prior to the release of 1.4.0.519 re-appearing...missing icons etc and other minor but irritating things.
To me and with my hardware, software and usage Shadow Defender 1.4.0.519 was the pinnacle of the development of the software in terms of stability. Other people with different systems and usage have maybe a different view which they are (in my opinion) entitled to.
I use my version 1.4.0.519 on Window 10, Windows 7 and Windows XP with no problem.
When members have reported glitches or bugs, they usually haven't all complained, it's just one or two people have a problem.
Quite often people may be having problems with their operating system or a dying drive or software conflict anyway and sometimes although it might appear to be something to do with Shadow Defender...I feel , that many times it probably is not.
    My last point
If you were a software developer when would you make changes after reports of glitch or bug?
You can't just 'knee jerk' it at the first complaint
What would you have to consider before you change your software?
There are all sorts of 'environmental' hardware, software combinations and potential conflicts and 'usage' and changes in operating system with upgrades and third party software upgrades. Some of these softwares have a deep 'hold' of particular systems...some upgrades can be disruptive to otherwise stable systems.
Just a few of my own thoughts not an 'in depth' analysis.

I still use Shadow Defender every day. I'll run in Shadow Mode for a couple of days and do a re-boot. I tend to only use commit to save files.

No just wondering, since you said you cannot live without SD so I was wondering what software you use that you cannot use without SD :)

Use KVN / Virtualization technology or something more simple just VMware and operate only in virtual machine.

KVN is for linux, so won't work. And VMs take performance hit compared to using your pc, so that sucks too as performance is very very very very very very very very important for me (did I say it's important to me?)

And I also stand solidly firm, at least where concerns Windows 10, that upgrades (only to satisfy Win 10 changes anymore) simply doesn't add anything significant that my older version of SD doesn't already provide.

Its just me but updates and upgrades didn't always improve and in most instances made issues where before none existed so I tend to stick with whichever version is proven itself just as it always has.

Ok I'm sold. I saw someone saying windows alternatives like qemu are slower, but I also found some other stuff. Now I just need time to test it...

If it has at least 85% of my host performance I will be happy.

Unfortunately as good as linux is, it has no games, drivers, programs... So linux can never become a home OS until devs start releasing games drivers and programs for linux. But that doesn't really happen so linux will remain this way. It's not that I don't wanna use it. But I cannot play games on it (only a few with WINE, that's like 0.00001% of all games available on windows), I cannot use stuff like office or photoshop or other stuff, driver support is bad too. Like, with windows you sacrifice performance and security. With linux, you sacrifice everything.

I confirm that I no longer have problems with the Shadow.Defender.v1.4.0.519 version on my Windows 10 installation (old version: 32 bit v1607)
I have been using it extensively for 3 weeks now. Fast startup is disabled
I'm so glad to have Shadow Defender again !
Thanks to the forum and more particularly to "SdMod" (Patrick) for its advice and opinions
