Hi, In this day and age where the network perimeter is said to be gone, is it still worth it to invest in a perimeter firewall like the Dell Sonicwall ? I was looking to revive my pfSense and include a plugin to do Netflows, when I thought, hey why not buy a Sonicwall ? If I have a Sonicwall with it's cloud based sandbox detonator, then I wouldn't have to worry about compatibility issues like when I tried BitDefender Gravityzone which has issues with my VoodooShield and Comodo. BitDefender said they are not compatible and had me remove them before it will install.
TZ400 for home use? Absolutely overkill, and veeeeryyy expensive https://itprice.com/dell-price-list/sonic wall.html https://www.dell.com/en-us/work/shop/accessories/apd/a8312299
In addition to Brummelchen's advice, you'll also need to have a SonicWall license subscription to unlock features such as content filtering, gateway anti-virus, IDS/IPS, application control, capture advanced threat protection (the cloud sandbox thing). It's pricing is something of a business IT expense, and a bit too costly for a regular home use.
Lol imagine buying a $1K firewall and then having to pay sub too. What a money grab, aimed for rich people obv.
not quite cheap https://dongknows.com/firewalla-gold-review/ WAN, Router, no modem, no wifi, no subscriptions. but cheaper than zyxel zywall (any) which need additional subscriptions.
Not without antivirus and/or webfilter. cheaper is only a pihole. https://pi-hole.net/ To be honest - the solutions above are for a special kind of network, in most cases a business or small-office network. it makes absolute no sense to install it for a single or more computers in a home environment with only internet, office and games. i think the thread starter need some more basic knowledge, e.g. https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/malware-that-passes-thru-security.436584/
