    Hi,

In this day and age where the network perimeter is said to be gone, is it still worth it to invest in a perimeter firewall like the Dell Sonicwall ?

I was looking to revive my pfSense and include a plugin to do Netflows, when I thought, hey why not buy a Sonicwall ?

If I have a Sonicwall with it's cloud based sandbox detonator, then I wouldn't have to worry about compatibility issues like when I tried BitDefender Gravityzone which has issues with my VoodooShield and Comodo. BitDefender said they are not compatible and had me remove them before it will install.

In addition to Brummelchen's advice, you'll also need to have a SonicWall license subscription to unlock features such as content filtering, gateway anti-virus, IDS/IPS, application control, capture advanced threat protection (the cloud sandbox thing). It's pricing is something of a business IT expense, and a bit too costly for a regular home use.

Lol imagine buying a $1K firewall and then having to pay sub too. What a money grab, aimed for rich people obv.

Uhhh... It's an business class firewall. This was never intended to be used in a home.
