Been getting them off and on all day for about a week. Anyone else seeing this. Aside from donating how do I stop them?

In the ABP settings, there is an option to turn off desktop notifications. But even with them off, I don't use it anymore as it doesn't block all ads as uBlock Origin does and the whole idea of allowing acceptable ads by default is just WRONG and against the whole point of installing an Adblocker.

I don't see that behavior in Firefox 88.0 on Kubuntu.
In what browser is it that you see that behavior?
There may be a chance that the local storage is corrupted, causing the first run page being displayed over and over again.
Is there any chance some cleaner that you use corrupts the browser's Adblock Plus storage?
Also, in case that makes any difference - did you uncheck 'Allow Acceptable Ads' in settings?

I'm not seeing this in Safari 14.1 (16611.1.21.161.3).

I don't allow 'Acceptable Ads' on principle.

There isn't much of an alternative with Safari. I'd prefer uBO but ABP does pretty well. Although it has to be said that I mostly run Vivaldi with uBO on macOS.

Because it is simpler, perhaps? That is why I still use it, and not uBlock Origin. A few boxes in settings to check or uncheck, and it's ready to go. If I see uBlock Origin's wiki for documentation, it seems rather complicated. That is why I never bothered to use it. But perhaps I'm mistaken. :)

I only use Unix. Ubuntu's fine, but with Apple you're a bit confined in their 'walled garden'. It's a nice enough garden, and a lot safer than Windows, it does have walls though.
