You know what's really weird? Gadwin Printscreen used to be one of the best tools, I'm still using an older version. Earlier, on Windows, I used its Snipping Tool and I used DuckCapture/ DuckLink Screen Capture (no longer supported). Later, on Kubuntu 18.04, I used Shutter, as Kubuntu's native screenshot application Spectacle adds a shadow effect to screenshots (1), which I don't like. As Shutter is not in the Kubuntu 20.04 repositories, and I don't want the unofficial Shutter PPA by Linux Uprising, nor the Shutter snap version that only allows taking screenshots of desktop or selection (taking screenshots of windows fails (2),(3)), I settled for GNOME Screenshot. But then I noticed GNOME Screenshot's option 'Select area to grab' results in screenshots with a blue tint to it that shouldn't be there (4),(5),(6). Also, I learnt that new versions add alpha borders with every screenshot (7),(8). That's not what I want. Now I use Xfce4-screenshooter. Another option is ksnip. I recently tested the AppImage version. I hope the other versions (Snap, Flatpak, deb, rpm) work just as well. (Edit: also versions available for Windows and macOS.)
I didn't know that DuckCapture wasn't developed anymore, I used it to capture full websites. I still use an old version of Gadwin PrintScreen, never found anything better.
Been using it for many years, Every time I try switching to explore something that might be better, I end up going back to it. It has the best features and the easiest-to-use user interface.

Recently, I discovered NormCap. NormCap is an OCR powered screen-capture tool to capture information instead of images. It is available for Linux, macOS and Windows. Earlier, on Windows, I used GetWindowText or SysExporter to grab text that couldn't be copied by simply selecting and copying. Till recently, I hadn't found a usable alternative for Linux. NormCap seems to be that alternative. It works differently than GetWindowText or SysExporter, as said, NormCap is an OCR powered screen-capture tool. Not often do I need such a tool to grab text, but when I need it, it's nice to know there's NormCap to use.
Never ever tried Lightscreen. In fact yet to even read on it. This end is uses Screen2Gif plus Freeshooter for those manual or regional screen snaps. Also on my right click context menu I still on occasion use Windows98/XP Screen Rip 32 which is just plain convenient since I haven't discovered a way to place Freeshooter in it's place. And if that doesn't wrap it up there's Screen Recorder Portable for creating mp4 screen recordings that's handy dandy as always. How exactly is Lightscreen and is it Portable.
