    To clarify, I didn't have any problems with svchost.exe at all, before I decided to install a couple of updates for Win 10 1909. And as you can see in the link, others are having other type of problems too.

    Re: News Feed on Taskbar. Actually? I'd like to see this. Haven't gotten it yet. According to this source, if you have Cortana disabled, you prob. ain't gonna get it either. I enabled Cortana just for this occasion and unblocked it in OSArmor. Nothing yet. I'll give it another couple of days and if nothing News shows up, I'll bury Cortana again.

    Then again, my MS Store app went missing coinciding with that big Edge update server outage some days ago. It came back eventually (I don't know if the outages are related) but that may have delayed it. Who knows. :rolleyes:

    See my posting here: https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/heres-a-weird-one.437532/ .

    I did get the Edge update last Sun., but this weird Win Store didn't manifest till last Tues.. Who knows, maybe the update had to "percolate" a few days to start borking things.

    Aha, you also had the Store bork on ya? But reading your post, it seems there were a few differences even though they occurred around the same time. The way it manifested itself on here is that it opened instantly but to a blank page with a "Try That Again" message, and with a "Check your connection" message flashing if you refreshed it. The Feedback Hub was also broken, I couldn't sign in.

    You got a break, you said all it took to fix it was a restart. Absolutely nothing I did fixed the Store on here. But since I have full telemetry enabled due to Insiders requirements, the issue was fixed by Microsoft in a few days. Now everything works, thank goodness b/c a system reset was looming on the horizon. :cautious:

    Mine was a strange case. I could connect using Win Store from the desktop fine. It appears the issue was related to something in its network settings when checking for updates. Never saw anything like this previously and hope never again.

    I'm on Insider builds so I have it on all of my PCs. That said when it gets here for all everyone will complain that it is spying on them. :D

    OK, so it's a gradual roll-out. Tech Community article doesn't say exactly which region/s receive this feature first. OK, so let's see...

    Probably got knocked to the end of the line because of the Store App breakage. Others are already testing this feature or disabling it.

    I could be mistaken but I don't think it is a Store App. I don't see it in the list of them. It seems to come with the Cumulative Updates that have been released first through the Insider Dev channel, then the Beta and Release Preview, and finally the standard release updates. Seeing the weather on the taskbar is kind of handy but I suspect the overall items on this panel link to sites they monetize.

    @plat1098

    @xxJackxx 's right, it's not a separate store app.

    No, no, my fault--I prob. didn't make myself very clear. The Store App is mentioned only because it was one of several Apps that stayed broken on here during the update process to 21H1. They initially broke during the Edge browser server outage. Basically, if there is something wrong like that, I'm thinking you're moved out of the feature update queue until CompatTelRunner determines the system is OK.

    There was some pretty serious damage to several of my Apps, that I could not fix. Microsoft eventually fixed them from its end. But I was guessing this breakage delayed my getting the News and Interests feature.

    The thing that stinks about broken store apps is that it is usually something in your user profile that is broken. If you log in as a different user it will work. For that user. Fixing it is often difficult as most of the PowerShell scripts I have found that claim to do so do not work. Unfortunately you will have to find something that does fix it for you or it will likely never work again.

    Yes, you would think: usually. However, it quickly became clear in this case the breakage was beyond the scope of fixing by the end-user. It was that kind of a thing. Again, Microsoft fixed it eventually--I certainly could not.

    It is difficult to fix, it's tricky. Usually, I bet one just resets the machine and be done with it. I was on the verge of doing just that. These apps are so embedded, you can't go for long without things sliding downhill, like dominoes.

    Took a couple of days but task manager is now displaying 0% cpu activity much of the time while machine is idle. When 21H1 was first installed, the system was a bit jittery, with constant cpu activity though always under 10%. Now it's calm, cool and collected. I can start adding back some software that was contributing a bit much to the cpu activity, like Rainmeter.

    21H1 is shaping up to be nice. Hardly any system errors and apps open faster, even instantly. :)

    Glad you got it sorted. If anything though, the slowdown/stutters should be because of how many security apps you have running simultaneously. Your task manager looks like a malware-infested system to me.

    IMO running so many security apps simultaneously in the background has adverse effects in terms of performance and app comatibility. He has em all running together in the background.
