Most probably you still use one or more lists that overlap AdGuard DNS filter. You can easily check it yourself by disabling step by step other filter lists. If you only use AdGuard DNS filter, almost all rules are being used.

What's the point of using the AdGuard DNS list:

    • AdGuard Base filter
    • Social media filter
    • Spyware filter
    • Mobile ads filter
    • EasyList
    • EasyPrivacy

which is a sum of several lists some of which probably may not be suitable for your browsing habit?

AdGuard Base Filter List = removes ads from websites with English content. Originally based on EasyList and modified by us.

    https://kb.adguard.com/en/general/adguard-ad-filters#filters

I don't use AdGuard Base and EasyList.
And I have no problem without these 2 lists.:)

If you click at the link, you can see the quote comes from gorhill himself.

The built-in Adguard base list is made to be use together with Easylist

    I have no doubt.:)
But I can't help it if my thinking differs from Raymond's.

There are two Adguard list which you can see at filterlist.

The adguard list that comes with adguard + easylist. This is built-in Adguard adblock

The adguard list that is available in uBlock. This is one is made to be use with easylist.

I don't know if in your language the adjective "complementary" has the same meaning as in my language:

    https://dizionari.corriere.it/dizionario_italiano/C/complementare.shtml

I personally think both lists (AdGuard Base and Easy List) are unnecessary.
If I had to choose a list I would choose Easy List.

    I confirm it.
Edit: 2921 rules from the Easylist CNAME are included in Adguard Tracking Protection list. I have tested it with only these two lists.

I tried to calculate my CNAME trackers block percentage.
Present in UBO Legacy exclusively for enabled anti-trackers lists.
If the mathematical formula I used is correct:

    90.86 %

    :)

    P.S.
Of course, W. members must perform their calculation by deleting the CNAME anti-tracker list recently included in the Easy Privacy.

Perhaps even more, since uBO resolves and blocks these CNAME's by default on Firefox?

But my browser is not Firefox and my legacy UBO is earlier than version 1.25.0 which has CNAME block functionality.;):)

I might as well have got it all wrong.;):D
My studies at university are now very far away in time . . . .

    ((3215 - 294)/3215)*100 = 90.86 %

O yeah, I had forgotten that...
But on Pale Moon/New Moon you can use ηMatrix, which does have that functionality. :)

The ηMatrix extension has a CNAME protection feature.
But its reliability is to be proved:

Yes, thank you. It was another custom filter list when disabled the numbers
are much closer. Now reads 37,665 used out of 37,930 for AdGuard DNS.

Can both of you confirm whether the CNAME list is indeed added or not added to the Adguard Tracking Protection list?

    Thanks

Yes the CNAME List has been added to AdGuard Tracking Protection, starting at line 6189.
This list has been updated 2021-03-10

The CNAME Easy Privacy list was updated 2021-03-06 and there are still 294 rules that appear to be missing from the AdGuard Tracking Protection list.

What I have in AdGuard Tracking Protection filter is only two entries for CNAME. That seems a little short, no? Should there be more?

Yes, much more. CNAME-cloakers are also known as disguised trackers. That term is used in Adguard Tracking Protection Filter. The CNAME section of this filter (for uBlock) begins as follows:

    upload_2021-3-10_17-2-37.png

This is the end of the CNAME section:

    upload_2021-3-10_17-5-59.png

Edit: I haven't mentioned the begin- and end rule numbers of the section, because they can change from day to day.

This thread does not handle Adguard. In uBlock the only thing to do, is to tick the checkbox for Adguard Tracking Protection. When you click on the eye symbol you see the content of the list. Look at rule nr. 6192 where the CNAME section begins.
