Hello @anon Because my systems have okay memory resources (16.0 GB), I elected to upgrade to v6.0 anyway. I too saw similar memory consumption but I decided to let it remain. Today, I rechecked and now my system's numbers look like: v6.0 = 33.7 MB + 0.4 MB + 0.4 MB I can not account for my system's change. 33.7 MB is still quite a bit more than v5.3 used. I thought you might like to know. Cheers
Thank you 1PW! This is what I noticed: OS: Windows 10 Pro (1903) x64, RAM:8 GB, Samsung Magician v6.0 After boot, the RAM usage for SamsungMagician.exe goes as follows = 2MB -> 40MB -> 17MB -> 35 MB, stays there for some time and later on drops to 2~3MB! But if I will open the Samsung Magician UI, the RAM usage from the 2~3MB goes back to 35~40MB and stays there (even with the UI closed) till the next boot.
Hello @anon Awesome! I too have W10x64Pro 1903 on my testing system. I will likely start updating my other systems as time permits. Diagnostic Scan: I am sure many 840/850 family users are disappointed that they can not run the v6.0 baked-in diagnostic scan. Is this some Samsung variant of the 3 stage/5 stage Microsoft Windows' CHKDSK? Thank you, anon!
What is the need to have it running in the background? I see people complaining about the RAM usage of the new version and am wondering why in that case they leave it running in the background. I presume that Samsung Magician only needs to run in the background, to use RAPID mode. This is something I've never used and probably never will. I've read that some people don't notice much difference in performance with it enabled and aside from that, I'm more than happy with the performance of my SSD, with it disabled. I have not stopped Magician from running at startup, as I do not care about its RAM usage. If I had very little RAM installed, then I may consider disabling it, but I've got 12GB.
1) To get updates for the latest Firmware I suppose. Try to remove the Magician from the startup (right click in taskbar icon) and you will see the warning. 2) If the Rapid mode service (Samsung RapidSv) is enabled, it continues to run doesn't matter if the Samsung Magician runs at startup or not.
@anon Thanks for the explanation. People who are concerned about the RAM usage, could just right click the tray icon, select "Remove from Startup" and then just manually run it from time to time.
For the first time in Samsung's history, the download actually works rather than giving us the dreaded "try in 24 hours message"
It's also in majorgeeks and softpedia= https://www.majorgeeks.com/files/details/samsung_ssd_magician.html https://www.softpedia.com/get/System/Hard-Disk-Utils/Samsung-SSD-Magician.shtml -----------

Thanks anon I got it offered (which is actually fast for Samsung). Although I had upgraded that way, I had to put back a backup-image due to completely other reasons. I have now downloaded the installer, will later upgrade. The version number is 6.2.0.250 (looking at the installer). I think that I found something strange in the Installation Guide; maybe a typo? This Guide: Samsung_Magician_6_2_0_Installation_Guide_v1.2.pdf At page 5 there is a table called "Supported Features by model". Now look at the SSD 840 Pro, which I have as my C drive for over 6 years. Look at the "Trim" feature. What, no Trim? Really? See screenshot.
Hi FanJ I'm not sure, but I think ' performance optimization (TRIM) is done through Windows own tool 'Defragment and Optimize Drives' this is what happens when you you try to optimize drives through Samsung Magician anyway.
The same was mentioned for previous version too= Samsung_Magician_6_0_0_Installation Guide_rev1.1 Feb.2020 Revision Number:1.1, Revision Date: Feb 2020 = (Changed the character (O >> .., , XX >> ““””) in Supported Features by model. Samsung_Magician_6_0_0_Installation Guide_rev1.0 Sept.2019
Thanks @Osaban and @anon ! I'm afraid that I still don't understand it. Is "Performance Optimization(TRIM)" the same as "TRIM" or not? BTW I'm on Win 7 Pro 64-bit. I still think that there is something strange when you compare the table "Supported Features by model" in the current Installation Guide to the one given here by Roger in reply # 178. Look at both tables for the 840 Pro and at that "Performance Optimization(TRIM)". In the table given by Roger a year ago you see there "o" and, since they changed the signing in the table, that should now have been "v". Am I right here? If yes, those two tables are contradicting eachother. Which one is right?

Thanks anon. I missed your post. I got it offered today and installed it. (I was just in the middle of upgrading my Eset, so ignored it. But after reboots I got it offered again and let it upgrade).
I have a Samsung 850 EVO (1TB) in my Win10 laptop and I have a few questions re Magician 6.2.1: When Magician's Trim is enabled should Windows Trim be disabled? Do those of you running Magician enable Over Provisioning? ...set at the default value? Do those of you running Magician start it with Windows Startup? ...or on-demand?
1) It's the same, TRIM is TRIM 2) default value if space is concern otherwise 20% is the best (by a small margin that is) 3) On Demand, it sends telemetry
