In fact disk cleanup has 12 categories while the settings menu only 8.

    That said, what is this?

I wonder if it could be that Im installing 20H2 now

If you use cleanmgr /sageset they should be even more.

Except it doesn't show the size of em, which is a shame since it kinda eliminates the purpose

No. You misunderstood how it works. With the parameter above you can force Windows to check these areas when Disk Cleanup is running next time. So you should check all checkboxes and run a new scan. If there is nothing to be cleaned up the categories will remain hidden. Only if they need to be cleared they will show up...

all available updates went fine. The installation of the optional quality update for this month was fast: this update isnt causing any problems so far.

Okay, here it comes: KB 4601319 (cumulative), KB 4601050 (.NET Framework) and Malicious Software Removal Tool. Installation was fast, zip-zip. Did the cleanup via Settings/Storage and recouped about 775 MB (update cleanup and delivery optimization). Cleanup left about 55 MB afterward which couldn't be removed right away.

Very fast update this time, no problems so far.

Updated without problem. After Update I could clean 600 MB from old Updates and additional 900 MB of old Driver packages. So it showed total of 1,5 GB. After clean up I actually got 3,5 GB of disk space back :thumb:

I went thru something like that a few months ago. Same 55mb leftover. You just have to uninstall an old Flash player update. I suggest you uninstall the one before the last one that shows in your updates. You can do this via Control panel. Afterward, the 55mb leftover goes away automatically.

Hi Bo, I didn't have anything related to Flash Player anywhere on here. What I did, though, since you reminded me, was delete some portions of the C:\Windows\Software Distribution folder and got back way more than a measly 55 MB--more like 1.2 GB. I'll take it! :)

Updated successfully as well 20H2 to build 19042.804. Very few leftovers about 350 MB which after cleanup left about 80 MB. I don't think the Windows Disk Cleanup utility is very thorough, but I can live with it. Yesterday I tested a cleaner which wiped about 450 MB, the results were disastrous, I couldn't even access 'file explorer' anymore...

I stand corrected: I had two Flash player ones in Control Panel/Programs and Features but could nuke only one of them. I'll try to get rid of the other one tomorrow or something. Thanks for the advice. :thumb:

Could someone who updates from Windows Catalog confirm for me that there is no SSU update for Feb. for build 2004 or 20H2?

    I need help about 20H2

Everytime I'm notified and do Defender signatures update, the screen shows that 20H2 is available and all I have to do is click, download and install.

    I'm on win10-pro 2004.
    Lenovo Thinkpad T430s.
It is not listed as tested by Lenovo for upgrading 2004 to 20H2:
    https://support.lenovo.com/in/en/solutions/HT511260#thinkpad

I see that many of you are using 20H2.
I need advice - do I install it or not?

Do a backup and then install it. If you're offered it, it should work fine. In the rare case you have issues you can roll back to the previous build from within Windows, or restore from your backup. The fact that's it not listed as tested by Lenovo means nothing. They only test more recent models from compatibility. One of my laptops is 14 years old and is running 20H2.

Hmm, on my 1909 Windows installation I got the 2021-02 cumulative .Net framework update, but not the 2021-02 cumulative update for Windows itself. Searching for updates says I'm up to date. There is one optional update but that is the 2021-01 cumulative update preview. 1909 should still be supported until May so this is strange.

    Thanks.
I do have an image, of course.
20H2 is in and I see no problems so far. My laptop is newer than yours, just 8yrs old.

The only very weird thing that happened was when I signed out of my account and logged into my admin account it crashed after I exited HD Sentinel (which I earlier forgot to uncheck to start with windows).
After Exit, I got a black screen with a mouse. Nothing worked. No desktop, not even ctl-alt-delete. I had to power off :( I suspect windows was trying to do upgrade related jobs while HD Sentinel was looking at the drive.
On subsequent start things look normal.
