    It's blocked here...
Maybe it's because I have the AdGuard Annoyances filter enabled.
    Try that first.

I was getting floating videos on other sites like Yahoo. Sometimes the simplest things are the most effective. Before going to the dailymail site, I unticked, then reticked the AdGuard Annoyances box. No floating videos but my visit was brief.

Don't know if the cause = effect or if there's a direct correlation, but I ain't complaining. Those videos surely are irritating, like gnats. Wouldn''t the element picker work also? I use it in AdGuard frequently.

Yes, I don't know which idiot came up with this floating video stuff, I also get it on Yahoo and thestreet.com, but I forgot how I blocked it on my desktop. I'm currently trying to block it on my laptop. BTW, what does bother me a bit is that lately it seems that I'm getting to see a lot of "free space" on websites. Normally ads would be loaded, but can't uBlock somehow automatically remove this space?

I don't know what happened, but all of a sudden I don't get them anymore on Daily Mail, and I do see that AdGuard Annoyances is enabled, but I can't remember that I enabled it recently, very weird. BTW, I don't actually visit Daily Mail a lot anymore, these guys have never heard of "less is more", it's way too much information LOL.

not possible he hasnt opened up issues.

My question was aimed at users on here though. I think list maintainers have given up on twitch, every time it gets blocked within a few days twitch adjust their code to get round the filters.

The adverts are unreal, I stream hop a lot and every hop I have a unskippable 30 second video ad before I can see the stream, then it repeats every 5-10 minutes. Certain filters also get detected and when they detected it will place a haha I see your filter every 30 seconds covering the stream.

BTW, I have noticed something weird. I sometimes save websites via Vivaldi and when I open them I can see stuff that was blocked by uBlock. So how is this possible, I suppose uBlock isn't simply hiding blocked elements, right?

OK thanks, then this explains it. Isn't there a way to fully block this cosmetic stuff?

that's how cosmetic filters work, as the name (cosmetic) suggests. if you want to prevent those elements from being dl'ed, you need to replace those cosmetic filters with relevant/working network filters.

The major problem for ad videos is the file which contains the streams, so nothing is able to stop it, or you hack the server :D

I am pretty sure that you have posted this list often enough that anybody now know its source.

well I wiped all my cookies on twitch and it calmed down a lot, I now get a advert about every 3-4 hops at start and at least on small streamers have stopped getting mid stream ads, so its bearable now.

I expect they may have closed up the issues section due to been swamped with requests?

I use these filters and have never gotten an ad on twitch.tv in my life:

upload_2021-2-7_17-5-32.png upload_2021-2-7_17-6-12.png I think those are default not sure

    upload_2021-2-7_17-6-30.png

    + my region's adblock list.

That said, if you read https://adguard.com/en/blog/annoyances-filter.html , it hides cookies too. And that's bad, because you wanna be able to refuse all cookies except the absolutely core ones. You don't want adveritising cookies from 1281849178 partners being automatically accepted because you blocked the cookie notification/settings (not saying they necessarily work like that, but they may do)

Really the annoyances list disables a lot of stuff that you MIGHT want or need. Which is why I only use ublock's since theirs is well made.

Also you might wanna go to twitch settings and disable all kinds of tracking or advertisement that is offered in the settings.

You can make a network rule to block the source tho. Altho then you can't watch the video if you want... But there are some sites that just insert videos on a similar topic but not exactly what you're reading, and even worse when they autoplay em... So it would be useful for those.

That's not really an issue I think, when you block third party cookies in the browser settings and/or via uMatrix.

u-annoyances is not a filter list in itself. it's an optimized filter list to be used along with fanboy's and ag annoyance lists.

The source is published in the information of all lists.
    Why should I do otherwise?

Also consider that any answer you write to me after this intervention I will always do as I see fit, that is, as I have done up to now.

Idk, there might be first party cookies too... You'd have to check (I got other stuff to do now)

Why do you think it can't be used by itself?

I did I was told to ask on r/twitch, and r/twitch have now got a bot auto deleting all posts related to ad blocking.

On reddit its become a taboo topic.

What other reason would they close the issues section? Since you know him maybe you can ask him.

That is not true. Idk what he said but the filter works completely fine by itself. And I tested it. If you open the filter, scroll down to a random site, you can see it:

    upload_2021-2-8_15-32-42.png

Then when we go to techonthenet.com with the ublock logger opened, we see this:

    upload_2021-2-8_15-33-56.png

    upload_2021-2-8_15-34-32.png

What means, if it wasn't for Adguard base filter that also covers this rule (techonthenet.com###pre_header), we'd have no filter to block it. So this shows that the annoyance filter does indeed work by itself. And you can test it, disable both adguard base and ublock annoyances and u will see it won't be blocked. Then enable just ublock annoyances and it will be blocked. That shows ublock annoyances works alone.
