Yet, but not ESET. I purchased ESET cheaply from a local Australian retailer.

I was not aware of the issues, thanks for pointing that out.

You're rolling the dice if you buy most AV products from another region. It could fail upfront or get banned later. I once bought a cheap license from a site that had a price that was too good to be true. The product worked for 10 months before they blacklisted the license. For what I paid I let it go at that but I did not buy from them anymore.

I can confirm that as I've been giving tech support for ESET products. I've talked with a lot of ESET customers whose product was deactived after few months of usage because they bought licence abroad.

I just now noticed an event log warning in the Eset log (which I should have noticed a month ago; my bad):
    Limited Direct Cloud connectivity
    It points to https://support.eset.com/en/kb332

I see there is already a thread about it at the Eset forum (started early november last year and still going on ...):
    https://forum.eset.com/topic/26197-...remium-has-limited-direct-cloud-connectivity/

I'll have to read it over and over again, but what I understand from it at first sight is that it is caused by some changes Eset made with respect to an SK Server (but correct me if I'm wrong).

Check and see if you have LiveGrid module 1093 installed. This was the fix for users having connectivity issues.

    Hi itman,
    Thanks for your reply!
I have LiveGrid module 1093 installed for several weeks now and I got version 1094 today (on regular release channel). I am still getting that "Limited Direct Cloud connectivity" warning in the Eset event log.

Make sure you don't have a firewall rule blocking UDP port 53535 inbound and outbound traffic.

If you are using EIS or ESS, the default ekrn.exe firewall rule also is used for LiveGrid communication. Any user firewall rule created manually controlling UDP traffic and placed above the default ekrn.exe in the rule set could affect its outbound connectivity.

For ref., here is further info on ports, IP addresses, and URLs used by LiveGrid: https://support.eset.com/en/kb332-p...duct-with-a-third-party-firewall#esetlivegrid

Hi, its to this day, the only a/v I have ever used that is light enough that you dont know its there. That is one thing eset have got right consistently over the years, performance.

I'm currently giving ESET Internet Security a try. I like it so far. Maybe it's a keeper. Time will tell.

I wouldn't say I "love" EIS, but I do like it. I'm still busy adjusting all the EIS settings, so that things work the way I want. It's a bit time-consuming but worth the effort. That said, I'm pretty sure I will keep EIS installed on my machine for the time being.

I tried it and installation was smooth with no problems. There is additional step offering connection to my.eset but you can skip it.

When changing setting I noticed they've removed 2 options that I sometimes used:
    - no more notifications about database updates and
    - no more option to log cloud submissions.

EDIT: after checking it again I found those options on new settings location.

And so the wait begins for the ESET changelog that always arrives long after the update.
