Do I leave the SbieDrv.sys file and folder in place and do a clean install in a new folder? Or must I somehow remove SbieDrv?

Is your Sandboxie-Plus running as expected?
Have you created and tried new default sandboxes?
Have you deleted contents of your sandboxes?
    -
Since, you wrote tried install/s? "wouldn't uninstall"?
Were my machine I'd uninstall and remove any Program Files Sandboxie/Sandboxie-Plus file/folder remnants (including SbieDrv.sys).
    I'd pull fresh installer.
    I'd disable my real-time security.
I'd create real-time security program exclusions for Sandboxie-Plus folder.
    From this distance.
I do not know your Sandboxie experience.
I do not know why you'd "uninstall" to try newer version.
I do not know your use history regarding Sandboxie n'or Sandboxie-Plus builds.
I do not know if you run real-time security program objecting to Sandboxie/Sandboxie-Plus installers/installs/files?.
I do not know if you've had earlier Sandboxie/Sandboxie-Plus builds running okay.

I was advised to uninstall my first Sandboxie when the Plus version I was using would not automatically sandbox Firefox. I just used the Default SB. I was surprised that the interface was so different as I’ve been using SB for my browser for many years on my old PC.

I uninstalled the old version and got an alert that it could not remove the driver and it warned me not to manually delete the driver, or words to that effect. So, I have the folder and the driver still there. To be clear, you’re telling me to delete it?

I use Windows defender, and under Virus Threat and Protection, I see Exclusions, so I would put the SB executable in there or the whole folder? And to disable real-time security I turn off the that button? Sorry for dumb questions, but I’ve never had to adjust this before.

As I said, I’ve been using SB for a long. Install and upgrades were always seamless. But now I'm on a new PC with the Win10 19042 build which is supposed to be very different. If you’re sure it’s ok to delete the driver, I will do as you suggest. I never saw the Firefox_Force templates you showed me on the link when I was trying to get the original install to work.

    Thanks for your patience here!

Thanks....so, you're familiar with Sandboxie Classic.
Are you now installing Sandboxie-Plus build?
Do you still have SbieDrv.sys in Program Files > Sandboxie folder.
Sandboxie installs to Program Files > Sandboxie folder.
Sandboxie-Plus installs to Program Files > Sandboxie-Plus folder.
Some security programs object to Sandboxie/Sandboxie-Plus builds (installers/installs/files) by DavidXanatos.
My security program has been objecting less over time... but, I'm still using the Program Files > Sandboxie/Sandboxie-Plus folder exclusions that I created months back. And I still temporary disable my security program for Sandboxie/Sandboxie-Plus updates/installs.
Since, you're are on new PC.
Maybe, you've not had Sandboxie/Sandboxie-Plus builds by DavidXanatos on new machine.....or have you?
    Sandboxie/Sandboxie-Plus installers will install SbieDrv.sys.
So, no worries if you clean out Program Files > Sandboxie folder or Program Files > Sandboxie-Plus folder.
    -
Note: you may install Sandboxie builds by DavidXanatos.
Sandboxie builds by DavidXanatos will be more familiar to you vs. Sandboxie-Plus builds by DavidXanatos.
    -
Note: Sandboxie builds are forward and backwards compatible.
Sandboxie-Plus builds are forward and backwards compatible.
    -
Note: When I've moved between Sandboxie & Sandboxie-Plus builds. I was prompted to uninstall. Since, Sandboxie installs to Program Files > Sandboxie folder. And Sandboxie-Plus installs to Program Files > Sandboxie-Plus folder.

Sandboxie builds by DavdXanatos will be familiar to you...since, you've run Sandboxie from before DavidXanatos builds.
Sandboxie-Plus builds by DavidXanatos will be less familiar to you.

If you're long time Sandboxie user....you'll feel more comfortable with Classic UI. If you're new user....I'd urge Plus UI...since, DavidXanatos wants users to embrace Plus UI.

Plus & Classic builds share core components. Sandboxie-Plus (installer) installs shared core components to Sandboxie-Plus folder. SandboxieInstall (installer) installs core components to Sandboxie folder.
Plus users may run Plus UI or Classic UI.
    ~for example:
I'll install Plus build and have Plus UI - SandBox Manager & Classic UI - Sandboxie Control pinned to my taskbar. I'll usually run Classic UI in my system tray. Just me.

    Yes, I was installing Sandboxie-Plus

The SbieDrv.Sys is the only item left in the “Sandboxie-Plus” folder.

This is my first experience with the new version of SB by Mr Xanatos. And this is my first experience with Mr. Xanatos’ version.

This is the file I installed: Sandboxie-Plus-x64-v0.4.2.exe located here:

    https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/releases/tag/v0.4.2

As I said, the interface didn’t look familiar. There used to be a tab with all the browsers listed and I just selected Firefox.

So which one is David’s preferred version? I definitely want the classic view!!! What is the link for that program?

And do I delete the Plus folder before installation?

    Thanks.

Scroll down here to see the latest installers.

    https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/releases/tag/0.6.0

If you want the Classic Sbie install Sandboxie-Classic-x64-v5.46.5

Perhaps uninstall everything first you can get a clean install.

SmartScreen will warn you about the download, you should select run anyway.

Yes....uninstall what ever Sandboxie/+? is now installed (Settings > Apps > Uninstall) + scour File Explorer remnants and start clean with the build/version you prefer.
    Maybe, you'll prefer > Sandboxie-Classic-x64-v5.46.5.exe
Classic is like the old Sophos build version 5.33.6 and Plus is with new features.

    I told you...
Some security programs.. object to Sandboxie/Sandboxie-Plus builds (installers/installs/files) by DavidXanatos.
Some built-in browser protections.. object to Sandboxie/Sandboxie-Plus builds (installers/installs/files) by DavidXanatos.

    @WSC3
Please move to PM if you want my reassurances.

I got it to work but I had to jump thru all sorts of ugly messages. What is PM? I see the ## signs around my browser, so it must be protected. The dark black tabs usually turn white when I'm in SB on my old PC. I also have a SB icon on my desktop that also brings up the browser. Is that a setting now?
    Thanks!

    PM = Private Message
    Is what a setting?
Maybe, your Sandboxie.ini has your browser forced?
    Are you running Classic.
Classic should run the same as you're familiar.
Maybe, I've not understood when you wrote "you've run Sandboxie long time.

    for example:
    png_8999.png and named png_9003.png
Okay, maybe you setup a desktop shortcut and pinned desktop shortcut to taskbar.
    for example:
    png_9001.png and named png_9002.png

Try with just Quick Recovery. I've never run Sandboxie with Immediate Recovery on.

I've never run W10 with Fast Startup On.
    Maybe, you're not W10 familiar.

SB starts with windows. All the boxes above are checked. Now this shortcut has appeared. But, the recovery box is still missing. I took immediate recovery off and I don't even know what W10 fast start is. My system boots in 40 seconds...
