On my system the GUI resizes itself everytime I double-click on the trayicon. I believe David said he would fix it, but it behaves exactly the same as last time. Are you saying that you don't see this? It also refuses to be controlled by AutoSizer, I can set it to maximize or center, but SBIE Plus doesn't care.

Hmm....Plus GUI appears to retain user set sizing, my side.
    Hmm....don't know AutoSizer.

Very weird, I don't have any problems with Sandboxie Classic. Perhaps it has got something to do with resolution? I have a resolution of 1920x1080 with a scale of 150% and I didn't change DPI settings for SBIE Plus.

It's a handy tool to resize or position windows from apps that don't remember screenposition. I like apps to either center on screen or to run in a maximized window.

Hmm....same resolution n' scale, my side.
SandBox Manager call from Taskbar n'or System Tray retains my sizing. I close GUI to System Tray (Close to Tray) and have SandBox Manager pin'd to Taskbar.

    1. Resize it.
    2. Systray icon, right click, exit.
    3. Launch sbie gui again.

    Size should be remembered now.

I installed Sandboxie last week. It worked until I restarted my computer and then completely died. :( Please help!

I have Windows 7 and two accounts: my everyday account with security restrictions, and my admin account which I use almost solely to install programs.

I installed Sandboxie on the admin account, with no problems. I chose the legacy-UI version, not Sandboxie Plus, so it would be familiar to me. I restarted in my everyday account, and I was able to run both Firefox and Chrome in Sandboxie for 1 week without any problems.

Until Jan 12, when I restarted again and logged into my admin account. Sandboxie broke and gave me this:
SBIE2331 Service start failed: [22 / 5] Access is denied
I looked in MSconfig and saw that Sandboxie service is stopped. I don't know how to Start it.
Clicking Help on the error popup sent me to https://xanasoft.com/Sandboxie/SBIE2331/

I restarted in my everyday account, and got all the same errors. Sandboxie is dead and won't run at all.

When I try to open Sandboxie Control, it gives me the following errors:
"Unknown user, configuration settings will not be saved."
    and
"Failed to record configuration setting SbieCtrl_UserName in section Unknown: C00080"
Sandboxie Control "opens" after this but it's just a blank, empty grey window with nothing in it.

I don't know much about computers. Please help me get Sandboxie working again.

My guess is Windows Defender or other AV security solution is blocking Sandboxie's driver.

I'm dropping out of using SBIE for now. Latest builds are too buggy in my set-up in the recent builds.

I've always had an issue with auto deleting my Firefox box in the Plus version. That hasn't gone away. Similarly the issue of SandMan crashing when clicking on the message telling me the box didn't delete is still there. I now can't get SandMan to start with Windows at all in any of the recent builds.

I went back to Classic but now find it won't autostart with Windows either and SbieCtrl is now crashing when clicking on messages about applications unable to start because of restrictions etc.

I wasn't using any other security software that'd have interfered with the operation of SBIE.

I don't spend enough time in Windows to properly help the developer troubleshoot I'm afraid but will check back in the hope these issues and the others reported are straightened out.

    Best wishes for SBIE's future.

Buster, when I installed it worked fine for a week. I didn't change anything with my AV that I know of, except the weekly virus-definition updates. The security restrictions on my everyday account are just that it isn't an admin account and can't install programs. But like I said, Sandboxie stopped working on my admin account, too. And if Elwe has the same problem with no AV then that isn't it. My guess is that the latest Sandboxie update (after I installed) broke it.

Can anyone please help me get it working again?

Perhaps simply uninstall Sandboxie (keeping the ini-file if you want to retain your settings) and reinstall it, preferably the former version. So at least you can find out if it really has to do with the latest update.

How do I make sure it's uninstalled fully?
Which is the former version and how can I tell?

Simply as any other software via the list with Apps installed in Windows 10, I would say. (You can search afterwards if there are still Sandboxie folders remaining.)

In the menu of Sandboxie control you can click on "Help" and then "About Sandboxie". There you will see which version you have currently installed.

The latest one for the classic version is 5.46.2 (Hotfix 2): https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/releases/tag/v0.5.4c

The whole list with the versions you can find here: https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/releases
(By clicking on "Assets" at the end of the changelog for every version you can find the link for the installers for the version.)

I can't open Sandboxie Control. The whole program is dead.

    I have Windows 7, not 10.

Edit: Control Panel says it's Sandboxie 5.45.1 (64-bit)

So perhaps you should better update (than going back to an older version). Version 5.46.0 has urgent security fixes. You should try at least this one (or immediately 5.46.2).
---> When installing it, anyway the older version will be dedected on your system (and removed).

    PS:
Maybe that it is part of the problem that you use an outdated version of Windows. But I cannot tell for sure.

And I suppose you need to do this evertime after reboot? No thanks, it should be fixed but I have no idea why some people don't seem to have this problem.

For me, Sandboxie Classic works just fine and I would like to say thanks to David for the bug fixes and for still maintaining the classic version. Like I said, Sandboxie Plus is not ready for prime time yet, but it does have a lot of potential. On the other hand, I'm not sure if it's a good idea to introduce all kind of new features because it may also introduce bugs, but perhaps I'm wrong about this.

No you don't need to. Just once and it should be remembered.
I see that as a problem as well.

    No. Sandboxie supports Win7.

I uninstalled SB and installed version 5.46.2. I also told Microsoft Security Essentials to stop scanning the folder with the drivers because it tried to delete them as "trojans". Then in uninstalled and re-installed 5.46.2 AGAIN.

I also stopped stupid Steam and stupider Discord from updating themselves when I restarted. I wonder if Steam is what's sabotaging Sandboxie.

Simple fix. Set the GUI the way you want it, including the columns and then right-click the tray icon to exit while the sandman UI is still open. Reopen sandman and it should stick now.

In addition to the vanishing system tray icon and yellow border...
...Is there a way of including a file to be recovered? (not the entire folder)
Or express wildcards in the file extention exclude list.

    Example 1:
    filename.tmp.20200118-1
    filename.tmp.20200118-2
    filename.tmp.20200118-3
    would become:
    filename.tmp*

    Example 2:
    filename.myfile2recover.save
    filename.20200118-2.save
    filename.20200118-3.save
    would become:
    filename.2*.save

    Hi,

Been using sandboxie since I don't know when. Started having some issues with it, finally got around to installing this new one (5.46.3 64-bit) Classic.

Everything seemed to be ok, but for some reason it still will lockup Chrome on certain webpages every time. Decent amount of them, one example youtube. After about 30 seconds Chrome will lockup and have to kill it.

Firefox in sandbox is fine on all pages, only effects Chrome. I apologize if this has been discussed, I tried to go through and look.

Any idea of what could be causing the problem? Only other thing running with it in Roboform.

    Thanks

    New? problem:
Every day, my AV (MSE) destroys the Sandboxie driver and I have to uninstall and reinstall.
    Every. ******. Day.

I am SICK of this crap. This program is just plain unuseable.

Why is the driver unsigned, why is it a trojan, and will it ever be fixed?

You should ask why MSE is unable to whitelist a file properly.

You got a suggestion to make it whitelist? Because I didn't write MSE so sarcastic mockery isn't helping. I came here to get help, not made fun of. I don't need you to make my day any WORSE.

And no, an unsigned driver that functions as a trojan is NOT normal.

I just tested it (still with Sandboxie 5.46.1, 64-bit; Chrome portable): No problems with Youtube.
