    Hello Everyone;
    I'm sorry it'll probably be a very stupid question.:doubt:
How can programs be run with the files in the zip file that are not installer / setup.exe? Should we extract the * .zip archive with sandboxie?

P.S Please let me know if there is a place where we can get advice from other users on how to use it. I don't want to occupy this place with my unnecessary questions.:doubt:

Forget this. My sandboxie.ini was from 5 years ago, i use more than 30 sandboxes and it was a mess, so i decided to restart from scratch and recreating it with sandman and i fixed both problems.

I fixed the Skype autologin program removing
    Code:
    ClosedIpcPath=\RPC Control\LSARPC_ENDPOINT
and now my only concern at this moment is the high percentage of CPU used by Sandman. I don´t know if can´t be fixed since is really annoying compared to the zero CPU consumption of the old interface.

There is a hotfix for the SbieSvc crash issue: https://github.com/sandboxie-plus/Sandboxie/releases/tag/v0.5.4b

    Hotfix Changelog
    Added
    • added "RunServiceAsSystem=..." allows specific named services to be ran as system
    Changed
    • refactored some code around SCM access
    Fixed
    • fixed a crash issue in SbieSvc.exe introduced with the last build
    • fixed issue with sandman ui update check
    Removed
    • removed "ProtectRpcSs=y" due to incompatybility with new isolation defaults

I don't know what David and the administrators think. But perhaps it would be a good solution simply to open a new thread where users can ask pure practical questions concerning Sandboxie and where they can publish (and discuss) their ini-settings (something like a help and "teaching" thread). On the other hand this thread here - which grew already quite big - could be used primarily for discussing the recent development and the more technical things about Sandboxie. Possibly such a splitting in two threads could help users to find more quickly the information they are looking for.

@smity: That's a good idea with posting the ini-settings. I can post mine - but not immediately because first I will have to tidy up my sandbox because there are various old and in the meantime useless entries.

@Harper: There are no unnecessary questions at all. ;) (Unfortunately I cannot answer your question concerning the zip files.)

Some applications got their own forum sections here, so IMHO the best would be to also get an own section.

Hi @DavidXanatos . I updated to Sandboxie 5.46.1 Classic and I'm still getting a hang on opening Edge with the following errors. These errors started with 5.46 on all chromium browsers. Once I close the errors I can use Edge normally, so I'm only mentioning it in case it's not expected behaviour. Issue is present on a machines with an overwrite installation and a machine with a clean installation (ini preserved)

The hotfix has fixed the SbieSvc crash issue for me though, also the Sandbox icon doesn't disappear and the sandbox will auto empty again (was having to manually empty it after restarting sandboxie control with 5.46).

Works fine for me, with forced folder to the sandbox and without, from explore the sandbox start or start with a link to the file in the box folder. It always starts sandboxed. I think I used the already fixed version as I was some days late now
Just to say all works fine as of now. No abnormals on the gaming front.

@Harper As said before, there are no stupid questions, well almost. Can you explain the question, somehow I think I don't understand it.

A question about Facebook privacy and Sandboxie: My wife reckons she needs to open a Facebook account for professional reasons, but we are both very concerned about the huge and well-reported privacy issues. (Why are well-educated professionals still using Facebook to post their notices?)
    * Suppose that she has a special FacebookBox sandbox where she runs Facebook, and no other websites, and that she deletes this sandbox using CCleaner every time she logs off Facebook.
    * Suppose that she also uses a VPN (PIA) every time she opens the browser.
How protected would her private data be from Facebook?

By the way, I hit the crashing bug with Classic 5.46.0, and it now seems to be all fixed in Classic 5.46.1 (Windows 10 Pro 20H2). For this and everything else, thank you @DavidXanatos.

Classic 5.46.1 all good on Win10 2004 Home and Win7 Pro 32 bit machines. Installed over Classic 5.45.2. First installed new version, rebooted at prompt and then installed again to get it working.

    Thank you, David!

Since the Open Sourcing sandboxie is being released in two flavors the classical build with a MFC based UI and as plusbuild that incorporates new features and an entirely new Q’t based UI. All newly added features target the plus branch but often can be utilized in the classical edition by manually editing the sandboxie.ini file.

    Source: https://xanasoft.com/sandboxie-plus/

Classical is like the old Sophos build version 5.33.6 and Plus is with new features.

OK, downloaded the SB Plus x64 v0.5.4 (not the Classic version) and installed it.

There's a problem. I'm using Ungoogled Chromium by Eloston

Initially, I had set Qwant as my homepage and search engine and ran SB Plus. No issue

Later part of the day I switched to using DDG as my homepage and search engine.

However, when I ran sandbox again it shows my homepage and search engine still as Qwant.

I used Cleanup Process in SandMan but to no avail.

    Any help?

    There’s an error message generated

    chrome.exe (4464) SBIE2101 Object name not found error ConnectPort (C0000022) access=001F0000 initialized=1

    Are you running default sandbox?
"Auto delete content" is not checked with default options.

Sandbox contents are not auto deleted.

Chromium application chrome.exe appears to install/run in AppData\Local on my machine?
Sorry, I'm not familiar with ungoogled-chromium.

Maybe release stable versions slower but sign them with the certificate?

I fear otherwise this forum will have a spike of threads like "My av flagged sandboxie as a virus" or "Can't install sandboxie"...
e.g I had to whitelist 3-5 files each time in Whitelistcloud because they get flagged everytime (depending on your av they could have been deleted instead). None is signed in any way. Firefox wouldn't let me download it either because "not secure" while on edge it worked. Not all new users will find a way to get around that and will new help....

Now I cannot sandbox and open my Ungoogled Chromium browser. It says SandMan crashed

And that's because I went to SandMan => Default Box => File Options => Box Delete Options and enable "Auto delete content when last sandboxed process terminates"

Do you use Sandboxie 0.5.4b? This version fixes a crash (fixed a crash issue in SbieSvc.exe introduced with the last build).

Nope. Look at what just happened when I tried to sandbox and run Ungoogled Chromium. Is SB Plus running? It can't open the DDG homepage
