Exactly, if they want all those features there are many other products in the market.

Sorry, for getting off topic. My post has been removed.

I think WiseVector Stop-X will lose valuable users in it's early development stages if they add a Firewall using WFP unless they offer a completely separate version without a firewall. The firewall will make WiseVector incompatible with other products, and if it is included in the user interface, but disabled, then users will not like that either. They would have to offer a version without any trace of the firewall, and a version with the firewall.

    Hello everyone,

    V2.71 is released!
V2.70 can update to V2.71 directly when "Automatically download and install program updates" is enabled or you can perform an overwrite installation.
Thanks for your testing and support!
    The download link:
    https://update2.wisevector.com/WiseVector_StopX_V27.exe
    https://www.wisevector.com/WiseVector_StopX_V27.exe

    Update log:

    1. Fixed the issue that ransomware rollback may fail to rollback some encrypted files.
    2. Redesigned the rollback window, now users can adjust the window size so that they can view the rollback items clearly.
    3. Show cleanup progress when users are cleaning a large number of malware.
    4. Fixed the issue that the file name may be garbled after restore from quarantine.
    5. Fixed the issue that WiseVector StopX may cause other programs to get stuck.
    6. Registry monitoring is more powerful, which can detect more malicious programs that modify the registry.
    7. Added backup of php, jsp, asp files for ransomware rollback.
    8. Reduced the resource usage.

Build 2.71 downloaded and used to overwrite previous install.
    No issues with install.

@WiseVector Sometimes when I check manually for definition updates the download fails first time. A minute or so later it succeeds. Just thought i'd mention it.

I had HitmaPro.Alert blocking a potential PUA. After dealing with HMP.A WVSX installed without issue. That was on my machine running Windows Defender.

I don't have WVSX running in real-time on my Norton machine but HMP.A didn't complain here for some reason.

    Thanks for your feedback.
There might be a problem with the network connection when you try to update sometimes...

WiseVector still does not update. I checked today and my version is 2.67.

I complained about the inability to update already on September: "I use always LUA - limited user account (i.e. normal user without admin privileges). I noticed today that I am still running 2.0 even though the latest version is 2.6 (over 200 days without updating). It seems that WV can update only on admin account - is it so?"

You answered: "Sorry, V2.0 is a very old version, which cannot update to the latest version automatically. Please download V2.67 through: https://update2.wisevector.com/WiseVector_StopX.exe and perform an overwrite installation"

So not a single update since September! I wonder if it can update the malware signatures. It seems to be a placeboware on my machine.

Probably I should uninstall this software. It just does not work on my PC when using LUA.

P.S. I tried today to install latest version manually from the UI with no success.

By the way. Does WV in principle protect my LUA account if only the WV service is running, or do I need to manually start the main program with the UI after startup? Can the service alone handle updates?

I used the scheduled task trick discussed earlier to run the main program at the startup. I could see it in the task manager. I however couldn't see the UI of the main program when using LUA. When I logged to the admin account I could not see the UI either.

To see the UI I removed the scheduled task and rebooted. Then I could start the main program and I could see the UI in my LUA. Then I saw that the version was 2.67. The update, as I said above, did not work from the UI.

yes but not protecting browser is also bad, stuff like obfuscated java script that avast blocks just fine (it wasn't an fp I did some tests in VM), I feel "naked" with WiseVector, ie I don't think that monitoring of traffic and checks for obfuscation techniques is bloating the program like some users appear to think here, but we already agreed on that

there is some compatibility problem with unreal engine, it finds 1 trojan in unreal engine install, you need to install unreal engine and run aggressive full scan on its folder, and it finds most likely an fp on one of its dependencies, I guess that's bad news for game developers:)
