As much as I like it and recommend it I think the licencing is rather scammy. I briefly had a "lifetime licence" for about 2 weeks but when using the updater did what it is supposed to, I no longer had a valid key. It seems a lifetime licence is only valid for the very specific version and revision you install. Lifetime licence is a very generous thing to call it, if it does not include at least updates within the same main version. Expecting the version you have a key for to not expire is the very basic requirement unless you are on a subscription. Issuing so-called lifetime keys for specific sub-versions is a scam. In reality what I got was effectively a limited demo licence.
All licenses are personal and registered on the manufacturer's server. If you use so-called Giveaways versions, they are really only for one specific version, more correctly for one specific installer and generally you cannot activate a newer version of the program. It is recommended that you back up your activation data so that you can probably upgrade within the same version. Your activation information is in the HDSentinel.key file located in the HDSData folder. If You don't have such a folder or key file, You have most likely used giveaways installer what is usually special promotional version and don't contain at all any registration data. Yes, it's true, You can use it to the end of Your days, but there is no way to upgrade without You'll pay for it.
Contact the author and he will be able to sort it out. I've been a paid user since 2017 and have updated to every new version with no issues.
