Does 2G still operate in these networks? Because there are older and/or cheaper devices that don't have 4G connectivity and widespread replacement of them may be very challenging. Many are built-in inside costly equipment.
I don't get it, I'm still using old skool mobile phones, I have always thought they made use of 3G. If I'm correct, not all phones support 4G, so I might end up having to replace those phones.

I live in other country in Europe and some 2G/3G frequencies are being freed (2100 Mhz), but not all. Rural areas have poor 4G coverage and 2G shutdown would mean no mobile telephone at all. That is why 2G&3G will be still available for many years on 900Mhz.

Thanks, must have missed this post. But yes, my old mobile phone only supported 2G and 3G, had to replace it.
That is called Non-standalone (NSA) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/5G_NR#Non-standalone_mode This thread is only about 3G shut down in Netherlands. There is no mention about 2G. Technically 2G can be used to make calls and send texts (SMS) just fine. Are there any signs that 2G will be also shut down in Netherland? I don't live there. Just curious.
I would be curious too. Like @Rasheed187 and others, for years I settled on and have had reliable service from an older phone. Its so much more peaceful than internet intrusions/distractions on a handset too. It sends and receives text fine and voice calls and im not brainwashed like this generation of constantly staring into a stupid mobile hand phone with lunacy. Oh I have so-called smartphones, a pair of them. But ONLY for WiFi purposes. Saves on hard to come by money these days too.
Form what I understood, Tele2 shut down the 2G and 3G network for consumers, I even received an email about this. KPN will soon also do this if I recall correctly, not sure about Vodafone.
Regarding the Netherlands, KPN intends to shut down its 3G network per April 1, 2022, and its 2G network per April 2025 (or later). [1]
OK thanks, it was a bit confusing to me because I figured that 2G was dead a long time ago, I thought that old skool phones worked purely on 3G.
