Downloaded it for a look. Will not be using it I think. Using an outdated version of most things.
Doesn't seem to be digitally signed Emsisoft didn't like it.

    Thank you for posting it.
It's my favorite browser in terms of Safety, Security, Simplicity, and speed.
Everyday, I check various browsers for any leaks and Maiar is the best.
    About some Emsisoft issues.
If my Bitdefender Total is silent about it - it's all good.

What about the fact that the Brave and Chromium versions it uses are out of date ?

    Thanks @stapp :thumb:
Both are a big red warning sign.
An interesting project to watch, but not to be used in its current form.

Damn, Chromium 81, that's a lot of unfixed security issues..

Made by some kind of blockchain company, doesn't sound good either.
    Lol, are you serious?

    Yes, I am.

I used to be just the Firefox user.
I got tired, I got sick of those anti-safety/anti-privacy(!) improvements for Firefox.
I've had numerous add-ons just to cover this/that Firefox "issues".

I have Chrome but hate it!
I have Edge. I like it but that, "Hi ... (my name), we value your privacy" irritates me. I've posted already that even with VPN, Edge shows me my REAL CITY'S temperature(o_O).
Where is my browsing being saved on some MS Cloud - I have no idea, but...
Currently, Edge comes in second place after Maiar in terms of SAFETY/PRIVACY!!!
Maiar is my MOST PRIVATE BROWSER!
Brave is always fluctuate with all those Win10 upgrades and Chrome updates. Now, it's difficult to controll WebGL leak.
Vivaldi is my second choice for normal browsing but it requires more extentions in order to PRIVATIZE my browsing.
In addition, Vivaldi is "heavier" than Maiar.

I've downloaded Maiar for my iphone and I'm happy!
It's incredible to see the FIRST browser with the easiest way to erase browser activity.
No other browsers on iphone could even get closer.

P.S. I don't understand and I don't use the Private window with Maiar; therefore, I don't know what the following statement means:

    Some more news about Maiar.
    (I don't care about it)

Elrond Announces Wallet and Global Payments App Launch on 31st January 2021

Bitcoin Press Release: Elrond Network has set the global launch date for the digital wallet and global payments app Maiar to be on 31 January 2021.

4th December 2020, St Julian’s, Malta – Maiar, the digital wallet app for iOS and Android devices, provides financial services such as payments, investments, and passive earning. The application does not require any subscription or paperwork, does not collect any personal information, and uses Elrond’s high throughput and inexpensive blockchain technology to provide near-instant transfers all over the world.

Maiar stands out from other blockchain-based wallets, which require writing down complex 24 words passwords, and other un-intuitive sign-up procedures, that are unappealing for non-technical users and dissuade newcomers.

    Key Details of Maiar

No ads. No trackers. No fingerprinting Maiars built-in ad blocker, Maiar Safeguard, gets rid of the annoying and malicious ads and also blocks trackers like analytic scripts, tracking pixels and other methods of data collection.
    * Privacy first. Privacy built-in Privacy and security aren't just something you should hope for, they are something you should expect. That's why features to help protect your privacy and keep your browser and devices secure are built into Maiar.
    * Your data is yours. Only yours We don't track, collect, or share your private data. It's none of our business.
Our servers neither see nor store your browsing data it stays private, on your devices, until you delete it. * Sync your devices Maiar Sync can be enabled to encrypt and synchronize your preferred settings and bookmarks. We do not hold any keys to decrypt your data, so your data remains private.

Why does Maiar share its engine with Google Chrome and components like the Shield with Brave?

We often get asked about the relationship between Maiar, Google Chrome and Brave. While we rely on the Chromium engine (maintained by the Chromium project) and on the Brave Shield component, this is where similarities end.

The reasoning is as follows: different browsers use different engines, but upon closer research we have found the Chromium engine code to be more secure and most widely used. Developing a new engine from scratch would have taken far too long and would have required significant resources. It’s the same reason why nobody has built a new engine from scratch in the last 20 years.

Unlike Google, our business model is not about collecting massive user data and monetizing it. We don’t collect usage data, we only look for an aggregate number of users. We don’t use the Google sync servers for syncing devices, and therefore we cannot share data with Chrome.

In short, as it’s unable to get any data from Maiar users, Google does not benefit from Maiar being based on Chromium.

Unlike Brave, our business model is not about re-inventing the advertising industry by using rewards and the BAT token. While our immediate focus is privacy, we’re on a mission to rethink the web and monetization from the ground up, not just the advertising model.

It doesn't seem to have a portable version whatsoever. That's a No No.

I run the installer in Sandboxie net rights but some weird can't open progress alert raised up. I don't and I won't trust anything like this that has to do with being a browser.

Vivaldi is really slowing down for me so i'm back hunting for a browser again.

I don't do EDGE or whatever Microslop calls it.

It seems to me you are confusing safety/security with privacy/anonymity.
If you want privacy, you need security too. Maiar is full of security holes, so if someone infects your browser/system, all your privacy is gone too.
If you use a VPN, you need to make sure that the browser uses your VPN's DNS. Some browsers have dns encryption enabled by default and use a public DNS provider like CloudFlare, even if you enable a VPN. Otherwise, your real IP/location will leak.

They say the private window uses the Tor anonymity network.

I always use a paid VPN (with WireGuard) app, and, plus, an additional VPN (not free) ext./add-on with the browser.
It's a double VPN (paid) arrangement from two separate VPN service providers.
I've disabled SIP ASL on my router.
Vivaldi (with its beeping unique number) is using Chrome 86 not the "fixed" Chrome 87, and LEAKING WEBRTC like crazy. No extension helps.

MS Edge is just happily announces (and informs the cloud) of each and every web-site I only(!) want to visit.

Eek, just checked the Chrome releases blog, since that v81.xx.138 release, 237 vulnerabilities have been fixed. Maiar has more holes than Swiss cheese

Just did a test install and MalwareBytes jumped all over this thing screaming about Malware.Ransome.Agent.Generic (4-places in the installation)... I think I'll give it a pass at the moment

This looks like a good candidate for the "Which browser will you never use on your devices?" poll.

Here is a very recent (just two minutes ago) test from Virus total.
    No engines detected this file

Why do people say strange things?

Just so you know, the Installer and the immediate results of the installation were just fine, nothing detected after about 1-min of browsing. I imported my CHROME settings (without issue) and went to check my GMAIL. Right in the middle of my GMAIL sig-on (no password as of yet), the browser EXE disappeared and Malwarebytes jumped on 4-components of the install, including the main app (that's why it disappeared). The RansomeWare threat didn't appear at all until after the app was in place for a few minutes... very strange. That's it for me as far as testing is concerned...

    Totally agree with your statement.

    P.S. Currently, using Maiar.

    Edit.

I've just scanned my computer with MalwareBytes.
I found 32 PUPs, mostly from Auslogics Defrag.
    Nothing about Maiar.

LOL good one, but it does look a bit interesting. I only found this because I was looking for browsers that support YubiKey. Has anyone tried it? I especially wonder about the password manager and the authenticator that only works on iOS.
