Hands up, who switched to Win 10, because it is the most beautyful thing in the world and not due to end of support or because hardware doesn't support it anymore. Solidarity people, maybe it is more complex for David too, to keep both seperate. Whatever is easier for him, is fine with me, we lived with the unsigned one long enough, so what.

Only a properly signed driver for Windows 10 would be fine by me as well.

David I'm perfectly happpy for a signed driver to only be available for Windows 10 too. Really good news that a signed certificate will soon be in Sandboxie again! Thanks for your persistence and for the enormus amount of time and effort you put into making that happpen, and same for your time and hard work in maintaining and developing Sandboxie. You're doing a stella job!

ITT a bunch of people on Windows 10 saying "I don't care about Windows 7 users, I only care about my interests".

    I'm shocked!

What we are saying is: "we have been waiting the signed driver for months, and 90% of people here is using Sandboxie on Windows 10"... why do the vast majority of Sandboxie users have to wait unnecessarily?

My opinion is that if the Windows 10 driver can already be signed, release immediately a new W10 "trojans free" Sandboxie version, which does not mean that Windows 7 users will be forgotten.

If I was David, I would have released the new version one second after having the driver signed ;)

I myself am a great fan of windows 7 and am using 10 only out of necessity, that said...
There is no gain for w7 users if the release of a signed w10 driver gets delayed for reasons of equal treatment of both user groups.

If I fail to get it running on 7 until the end of the upcoming weekend I'm seriously considering making 2 releases one with the properly signed driver that requires w10 and one like always with the pirate signed driver that works on all versions.
But I'd rather have only one release, ...

EDIT: well as of now the delay is 1 week i think that's ok, I really hope the issue can be resolved on the weekend, i mean its supposed to work IDK why it does not.

What I am saying is that what David asked was/is a pointless question to ask on a forum where 99% of its users are on Windows 10.

Yes I agree. Windows 7 is still supported by MS but only if you pay for it and in that case you will receive the necessary security updates.
So most people will simply not use this version anymore and are using Windows 8.1 or Windows 10.
@DavidXanatos, thanks for all the effort and hard work and although you are still using Windows 7 yourself, I hope that you can release the new build soon :)

Windows 7 for end-users is dead, no longer updates, why care about a minority (~17per cent of windows versions) working with a current security issue?
and only a few with paid support for windows 7 dont use sandboxie, there is no reason to use an abandoned (Sophos) and no longer business (Sophos) supported software, although it was free for a long time now.

even XP has less than one per cent users. dont give a damn on it.

Apologies if this was asked/answered before, but were you testing on a real W7 machine or VM (or both)?

Is it worth a try to see if the driver signing results are different on a real Win 7 system?

@DavidXanatos, you probably already checked that Windows 7 is running with the latest Servicing stack update and the latest Windows updates.
    Root certificates update: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...d-root-updates-for-windows-root-certificate-p
And you probably already installed the convenience rollup: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us...-for-windows-7-sp1-and-windows-server-2008-r2
This update is also important: https://support2.microsoft.com/en-u...ry-availability-of-sha-2-code-signing-support

I also find this situation surreal, meanwhile I have had to uninstall Sandboxie again because of Windows Defender and I have reinstalled the Sophos version.

There is nothing to discuss while still using Windows 7. And even lesser without the latest updates this year.

But the latest Sophos release 5.33.6 should run fine except the latest fixed issue from David.

David I will be pleased when Win 10 has the cert. Just had to reinstall 5.44.1 over the top of itself as Win Defender killed it again :D

I use sandboxie for application testing. It helps keep my registry clean I can also (or could) do install tests many times without affecting my system. Existing apps allow me to update, but I cannot add new ones. I actually have a laptop stuck on an old windows 10 I install in a sandbox there and then copy that over to my main machines sandbox folders. The laptop is stuck because it uses an older VMware which seems to be stopping Microsoft forcing it to update LOL/

Anny way I have continued using 5.33.6 but it gets slower, more and more GUI Proxy issues. It seems like it runs OK after a reboot for a day or 2 then gets progressively slower and slower until window dialog or explorer windows take many minutes to open (seconds after a clean boot) and then often flickers (NVidia card GPU issues with SB I suspect) and crash requiring multiple attempt to even test a single file.

Question about updating - (Can I go back and forth):

So I keep thinking should I move to the open source. My hesitation I have a lot of sandboxies with various states of testing will they remain intact? I have only ever used the official and I used to hold off on that until it was totally required. If I have issues I cannot resolve can I then go back to 5.33.6 and not lose any of my sandboxes? Do I need to back anything (settings etc) up for this?

Your issue sounds like the handle leak i fixed some time ago.

There should be little to no problem going back and forth between the open source and the last sophos version, just give it a try.

GREAT news it would be good to get back to a version I can resume testing with and I have been following your developments some very interesting additions. I will look to do that this week I have some vacation coming up so some time on my hands to experiment with this.

I assume they cannot coexist and toggle due to the driver.
