Interesting stuff! Years ago I was skeptical about multi-process browsing, but this was because of the ridiculous amount of RAM usage. But this has been improved in recent years, and multi-process browsing is great for security.

Isn't that what Google was, or has, added into Chrome which makes uBO + others less effective?

 

Unfortunately, yes. I've long been a fan of Chrome/Chromium browser because of its security sandbox, but this agenda of theirs that effectively throttles these extensions has me favouring Firefox instead. It matters not at all to me if it's inherently weaker than chrome, because I lock it down using a sort of Mandatory Access Control (MAC) security measure in Windows 10 and actual MAC control in Linux.

 

At least Brave have suggested they may not follow Chrome.

This is a real bummer. Guess it is time to go back to Firefox or use Adguard for Windows again I suppose.

 

Edge has been my default browser since the Chromium version of Edge was released. I really like it, however this Manifest v3 change is definitely unwelcome. If UblockOrigin, https everywhere, Image block, Recent Bookmarks, Wayback Machine and NoScript and/or uMatrix (I use both but not concurrently) stop working then I'll move to using a combination of Brave and Firefox. At least Brave has some (rather limited) adblocking and https everywhere capability baked into the browser, but I prefer the extensions for having more control and customisation. Less keen on Vivaldi tbh, just personal preference.
