Some people here are telling that they have no problem with installing and using Sbie 5.43.6.
For me it does not work, neither install nor use of the software.
While i try to install the driver there is an error message. (screenshot 1)
After restart of the computer the icon has an blinking exclamation mark in it and when trying to start there is only a error message. (screenshot 2)

My Windows version is Windows 10 2004 (Build 19041.572)

What is wrong, what can i do to get the software to work?
    Please help.

    @Bronko
Have a look in Services and make sure that Sandboxie service is started. I had to do that.
I started it and then rebooted.
The service immediately stopped again, so I ran the 5.43.6 installer over the top of itself, started the Service again, rebooted the machine again and all was well.
Note that I had to uninstall 5.33.6 in order to get 5.43.6 installed.
Other users could install it ok, and some couldn't.

"pending" seems the most causing issue from comments.

    Hi
    thanks for answering.

I did the try and error game a little bit...
    what i have done
First step: disconnected internet for security reasons
Second step: stoped service of avast virus scanner
the exeption for sbie. sys was already registerd in avast
Third step: startet installation of sbie again

next i activated virus scanner again and connected to internet

restarted my PC and all worked fine.

    Best regards

Hello Rogene. You need to go to:

Sandboxie control>Configure>Windows shell integration, Click Add shortcuts, Select the sandbox in which you want the browser to run and click OK, in the Menus of the Sandboxie Start menu that opens up, select the shortcut for the browser and click it. Example; If you have a shortcut for the browser in your Desktop, then to create the sandboxed shortcut you can click this shortcut via the sandboxed Desktop Menu. After clicking the shortcut , the sandboxed shortcut for the browser will appear in the Desktop.

FF 82.0 (64bit) works well here in Sandboxie v5.33.6 with no issues, after windows update 20H2.

I installed 5.43.6 and it worked fine for a while now I get this constantly spaming.
    SBIE2203 Failed to communicate with Sandboxie Service: *GUIPROXY_00000001 - brave.exe [C0000034]

I am going to uninstall and reinstalled to see if that fixes it.

Edit: re-installing seems to have fixed it.

This is Tom's fork thread and you are talking about David's fork. Why do you post your question here?

Well, Tom's fork in the meantime (and for the time being) has become David's (second) fork. ;) David is so generous to take over Tom's work during his absence too:

Version 5.43.6 is the continuation of 5.33.6, the "classical" Sandboxie. Therefore I think that it is not so bad to discuss about 5.43.6 here in this thread (and to reserve David's own thread for his other fork, his "advanced" version = Sandboxie Plus).

But finally this will have to decide the starters of the two threads, Bo and David.

The continuation of the "classical" Sandboxie was going to be Tom's fork, mainly because Tom worked already coding the program.

IMHO this thread should be in the fridge meanwhile Tom doesn't show up.

For me, the option Configure> Windows Shell Integration> When a program starts in the sandbox, does nothing. When the Sandboxie control is closed and I start a sandboxed app, the Sandboxie control tray icon does not open and the color border does not appear.

Edit: I just discovered that it is a bug and the developer is aware of it.

Yes, this is what's confusing to me. Perhaps it would make more sense to call the new 5.43.6 version "Sandboxie Classic", and the version with the new GUI that's running on top of v5.43.6 should still be called "Sandboxie Plus", to avoid any confusion. Unless Tom and David have decided that they both will work on the first fork.

There are no news from Tom for the last 5 months if I'm not wrong. I doubt we can talk about Tom and David decissions when for an unknown reason Tom has dissapeared.

Hopefully this is the right place to post this. I am using version 5.33.3 of the Sophos version of Sandboxie. I recently upgrade my laptop to windows 10 from 7. When in a Sandbox, I cannot open any image file, I get the "Class not registered" error. This also happens on my gaming laptop using version 5.31.6 under windows 10. I have no problems under windows 7. I have no problems opening images outside of the sandbox so the suggestions for this fix don't work. I even tried doing some of the fixes inside the sandbox but I still couldn't get it to work. Opening the images in a photo editing app seems to work, just not the photos view app. I'm assuming the photo app is crap and probably has issues running inside a sandbox.
I tested using a clean sandbox. Both computers are running 1909 build.

The photo app that comes with W10 is not compatible with Sandboxie. Apps in general are not compatible with SBIE. In other words, they wont run sandboxed at all. You need to use regular programs to use SBIE in W10, you could also restore Windows photo viewer. See below, I used Option 2.

Hello clinic. I use an older version of Foxit portable but tried the most recent version in a sandbox after reading your post. I can confirm, this new version is crashing when running sandboxed. It seems to do it less if doing a clean install instead of over the top installation, but is still crashing.
