Netflix suffers first major loss of US subscribers, blames price hikes July 17, 2019 https://www.theverge.com/2019/7/17/...ubscribers-disney-hbo-apple-amazon-stock-drop
I havent cancelled my subscription, yet, there are some shows and movies I watch again and sometimes there comes the odd new TV-serie, but I have noticed the decline of quality of most of their own movies and series. Not to speak of the "foreign" (local) movies and series. They seem to be based on what they see in their algorithms of who watches the shows most, low cost and not upsetting anyone, not on craftsmanship. I loved the fact that P2P "piracy" rendered in forcing the birth of streaming business, but now you have to have so many streaming subscriptions to find something worth watching. It seems you have to start torrenting again since it is the only platform where you can find everything you want in one place. Funny how it goes
The funny thing is that one analist said that perhaps there is simply too much content on Netflix, so people don't know what to watch and switch back to cable TV again. I was also overwhelmed by all of these movies and series, and most of them are crap. If I was Netflix, I would focus more one quality than quantity.
Yeah, I agree. There is too much crap. I have spent way too much time watching different shows in the hope of finding something that isn't made after the same template as every other show..
This must be what you're talking about: "Streaming overload! Too much content from the likes of Netflix, Hulu and Amazon Prime Video is causing 'paralysis' for viewers who take on average 7 minutes to decide what to watch... 21% say eventually give up watching if they are not able to make up their minds 58% of viewers also say they're more likely to switch back to their favorite cable TV channels if they're unable to make a choice about what to watch..." https://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/ar...wers-taking-average-seven-minutes-choose.html
Yes correct, but I believe I read it on CBS MarketWatch. I sometimes also get tired having to navigate to all that crap. On the other hand, it did make Netflix a succesful company, but sometimes less is more. Netflix got way too big, and that's why you are now seeing all kinds of new streaming services coming up. IMO Netflix should offer 1000 to 1500 movies and series, that's more than enough.

I think Netflix will only get bigger problems once more content gets added to Apple TV+. But I wasn't impressed by Disney+, so I'm upgrading Netflix's stockprice to 320 dollar.
Enjoy Netflix while it lasts. It can’t keep going like this forever October 31, 2019 https://www.washingtonpost.com/opin...t-lasts-it-cant-keep-going-like-this-forever/

Netflix Is Creating a Problem By Canceling TV Shows Too Soon Netflix has a TV-show problem Netflix used to be the trendsetter when it came to TV shows. Now it's falling behind October 12, 2020 https://www.insider.com/netflix-tv-shows-cancelled-ending-2020-9
It's truly ridiculous, why on earth would you create 113 new shows. Quality should be the objective not quantity. I've also understood that the reason why Netflix will often cancel shows is because they will have to pay actors more for season 2 and 3, so instead they focus on developing new crap. But anyway, I don't even watch 95% of these new series they are crap! I would love to get access to old skool tv series, now those were the days. Here are my favorites: https://www.imdb.com/list/ls042264457/?ref_=ttls_vw_grd&sort=list_order,asc&st_dt=&mode=grid&page=1
Agreed. A few years ago they raised the monthly subscription fee, so I thought: "great, this will mean better content", but instead, things just got way worse. Like you said, it's mostly crap, especially the Netflix created series. Even when they add a movie I like, it's usually one I've already seen years ago.
Hi, yes Netflix definitely have a problem renewing their brand, and many of you live in the US, try to live in Denmark, we do not have the library US-subscribers have.
I cancelled my Netflix subscription two years ago and never looked back, I am now using Amazon Prime, in my country is much cheaper, has better content for my taste and much more perks overall.

Well, I don't have a problem with watching old movies, I can watch a good movie every 3 to 5 years or so. I have even made a list of my favorite movies from 1968 to 2018, it's currently at 792 titles, you might want to check it out, see link. But yes, especially when it comes to series, Netflix is a disaster. I also believe that Netflix has too much content, why offer 2000+ movies, while most of them aren't even that good? https://www.imdb.com/list/ls046424878/?st_dt=&mode=grid&ref_=ttls_vw_grd&sort=list_order,asc&page=8
I switch between Netflix and Amazon Prime Video based on the content. It does seem that eventhough Prime Video has less content than Netflix (about 1000 movies), it offers more quality most of the time. Seriously, it's so annoying. I bought the stock at 540 dollar because most analysts said it was going to 600 dollar, but the stock has crashed to 490 dollar. But normally speaking it will bounce back. However, competition is heating up.
Absolutely, I have some favorite movies I've watched two, three, four times, but it's not a very big list, and usually when they do make it to Netflix, I've already had my fill watching them several times over. I'll check out your list, too.
Yes, and Hollywood seems to be in a crisis, in the last 4 years movies have gone downhill. So I'm happy too keep watching my old favorite movies. That's why it's a bit frustrating that a lot of them aren't even available on Netflix, I still need to rent quite a few on Apple iTunes. BTW, here is the link to the first page of my "favorite movies" list, by mistake I posted the last page. https://www.imdb.com/list/ls046424878/?st_dt=&mode=grid&page=1&ref_=ttls_vw_grd&sort=list_order,asc
Netflix raises prices, stock leaps 5% October 29, 2020 https://www.cnbc.com/2020/10/29/netflix-raises-prices-of-its-standard-and-premium-monthly-plans.html The Verge: Netflix is raising the price of its most popular plan to $14 today, premium tier increasing to $18
Well, it's kinda weird, at first investors thought this was a positive move, because the stock jumped to 510 dollar, but the next day it plunged again. I seriously wonder if they are not going to lose many customers because of this move, especially because Disney+, Prime Video and Hulu are way cheaper. BTW, it's not just Netflix Originals that are crap. I sometimes also try to watch series on cable TV, but the quality is so bad, who on earth watches this boring stuff? I'm talking about series like Manifest, Deputy and Gotham for example. Today they are going to start with Private Eyes (with Jason Priestly), I'm going to give it a try, but I have very low expections. https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8421350/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt8873996/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt3749900/ https://www.imdb.com/title/tt5722298/
