@Socio The post was mant as a followup for post #302 about the new Adguard Assistant (for the desktop version) which afaik is not working while using sandboxed. I should have been clearer with my wording sorry.
Thanks for trying to help :)

Me too. In the meantime hanging on TIGHT to his last release before things went kaput. Operating perfectly enough on these 8.1 systems like a charm :thumb:

Why would he want to come back? And work for free no less now that SandBoxie is "open source", and if he ever decided to start charging again you can bet people would whine and whine about how they bought a lifetime license 8 years ago and that they're entitled, etc. and just look at the constant cr _ p David has to now deal with... yeah why on earth would he want to come back to that?

Sometimes you work on things because you love doing. You get a sense of self-fulfillment. I believe some people look at software like a work of art, and working on something their proud of brings some happiness into their life. Maybe Tzur will enjoy working on Sandboxie again, if he no longer gets any gratification out of working on Sandboxie then i'm sure he can find plenty of other projects to work on.

Ronen Tsur has completely disappeared from the Internet.
    He knows how to hide.

Somehow, I suspect that the name, "Ronen Tsur" could be a fake one.
The true developer of Sandboxie could easily re-enter the MARKET under a different personal and/or product name.
    Maybe....

HELP / ADVICE for a newbie trying to get SBIE+ to work with Bitdefender

    - SBIE+ wouldn't install with Bitdefender on even after adding exception C:\Program Files\Sandboxie-Plus\SbieDrv.sys
    - Shut off Bitdefender and installed SBIE+
    - SBIE+ worked until Bitdefender ran a scan a saw SbieDrv.sys as a Trojan.GenericKD.34515658 and uninstalled it
    - SBIE+ will not work after the scan

Any way to fix this? I appreciate the advice. The same thing happens with the original Sandboxie. I know it is the unsigned certificate. Just don't know the workaround.

I was looking for possible solutions aside from uninstalling Bitdefender, or if I have the correct rule exceptions or Bitdefender workarounds.

Question: How do I prevent my ears from hurting after swimming?
Answer (not helpful): Don't go swimming.
Answer (helpful): 1. Wear earplugs. 2. Apply ear drops after swimming to reduce inflammation. 3. etc.

Question: How do I prevent swelling up like a wale after eating peanuts.
Answer: You have a peanut allergy stop eating peanuts.

I haven't looked into the Bitdefender case exactly but some Anti-Malware Fools are so patronizing that they don't allow to effectually specify exceptions that work reliably.
If Bitdefender is such a crappy tool uninstalling it will be the only workable solution.

Is it your computer or Bitdefender's? Actually no need to answer that, it's quite clear.

If the original creators of sandboxie made a paid version and the payment plan was yearly I would absolutely pay for it.

I believe that the Tzuk phase of Sandboxie development is over.
Sandboxie was developed to meet needs that arose in a different software and hardware environment.
Tzuk himself was in two minds as whether to continue the development of Sandboxie to meet meet rapid changes, brought on with the unstoppable onslaught and 'insistence' of the new more demanding and invasive operating systems.
As I remember (Please feel free to correct me if I'm wrong) he didn't really want to work with 64 bit systems because he felt that the pursuance of that would undermine the integrity of his product by the acceptance of certain 'givens' within those new systems.
I think that the he found it difficult to just keep up as the whole framework rapidly changed and he knew exactly what he was up against.
The changes, demands and developments, philosophical and practical of those new operating systems and platforms (I believe), were intentionally meant to undermine third party security and privacy tools like Sandboxie
There is a saying, 'Get out, while the going's good' and I think he did exactly that.
Tzuk was a great developer of his time. I wish that all developers were like him. He was 'present', 'approachable', 'accessible' with a great attitude and developed Sandboxie in close contact, with a finger on the pulse of his active, dedicated, members of the Sandboxie forum. Sandboxie was a true, joint development and partnership. Bugs were dealt with quickly and user comments and ideas taken seriously. Even though the development was fast moving it still fell within a stable conservative framework and ideology that gave users confidence.
Tzuk's ( Ronen Tzur) development of Sandboxie, was, the most 'alive' and 'mutual' development, that I have witnessed.

Absolutely without question perfect summations that fit to a T.

    Very well said Patrick. :thumb:

Software developers ARE always having to continue to chase the inner additions from some Win 10 updates that occasionally unbalance many very stable and reliable security programs both commercial AND third party. Big reason i'm thoroughly pleased to ride out on Windows 8.1 as long as possible.

That's why you need to delay windows updates on windows 10.

12 months for feature updates, 2 months for monthly updates and no delay for updates that actually fix things.

Brummelchen -- Do you run Windows Defender on a Windows 10 system? I ask because I'm having recurring problems with it and David's invalidly signed Sandboxie Plus service. I wonder if you've seen my three posts on this ending with https://www.wilderssecurity.com/threads/sandboxie-plus-sbie-fork.427755/page-22#post-2948471.

Lately I've given up and uninstalled Sandboxie Plus 5.43.1 (didn't try 5.43.5 yet) and plan to clear the Windows Defender history, make sure the C:\Program Files\Sandboxie is exempted in Windows Defender, and try again. If you have any suggestions, I'd be grateful to hear them. -- jclarkw

Windows defender seems to randomly ignore exclusions you set. I posted a guide for how to configure comodo firewall to work with Sandboxie Plus over on that thread, if that's helpful.

If you don't want to use comodo as the antivirus you use with sandboxie plus, then I'd recommend avira free edition, bit defender free edition, or if you're NOT using hitman pro or hitman pro alert then I'd also recommend sophos home free.

Whichever of those you pick, you will need to add S.P.'s driver file to the list of excluded paths/files before any of the virus database updates finish.

Avast/AVG, now owned by the same company will both block S.P. with their other components. So I would strongly discourage using those with sandboxie plus.

    Hi Bo,
the entry from SandboxieDev is now 5 Months ago and your answer to my entry about 2 and a half. I'm afraid there will never be a newer version of sandboxie with signed intallers ...
