I use F-Droid store instead of Google Play and Bromite for a browser, but ironically I use Google's device scanner for security to avoid battery-drain issues. I don't install unknown apps or browse unfamiliar sites with my Android phone.

Kind of an LOL moment today. I dutifully check my phone for updates every week since I got it last month, but it was still on a mid-2019 patch level. All of a sudden, I started getting updates today, one after another, four in total (apparently they're not cumulative), finally bringing my Android 8.1 device up to July 2020.

Just got the Samsung Note 20 Ultra and Samsung Tab S7 Plus and they are both running NETGEAR Armor powered by Bitdefender and Adguard. The occasional PIA VPN surfing ;), but that's about it for security. Stay safe my friends.
