Nah it's ok thanks for the offer. I still don't have the GPU Scheduling but I am not too concerned about that just yet.

I'm going to agree with your earlier post that it is a WinRAR issue. It worked for me on PCs that did not have it. It did nothing on PCs with WinRAR, even if cab files were unchecked in the integration section.

Did you ensure to launch WinRAR before unchecking CAB file integration then re-apply the reg tweak?

I haven't gone that far yet. It's not a big deal to me to use a script or command line for something. I've been doing this since DOS was the standard. Just confirming that I believe you were correct in identifying the issue. I may toy with it more later when time allows.

The last sentence in the link above (post 6336) is
My problem is HOW to avoid?
I'm using Windows 7 waiting for all this mess on 10 to resolve. Feature updates in 10 are pushed to some further date I no longer remember since I did it long ago. Currently on 1909.

I updated to the August CU manually with no problems, but when I checked again for updates, it started downloading the .NET preview build, which I don't want. I'm on 1909, not an "insider" edition, so not sure why it tried to force the preview, which I had to remove manually from the download cache. Not wanting any KB4023057 adventures, I have updates paused until mid-Sept.

I guess MS has not yet released the SSD Trim issue for the 2004 build yet huh?

I'd be surprised if they do it before patch Tuesday (next week).

This disk issue has been dragging on and on. It seems fixed in 2009 as was already reported by others. 2004 is a washout as far as I'm concerned. 2009 ran great the moment it installed. A nice and clean Event Viewer (2 ESENT warnings at every re/start is all). Running an Insider build can have advantages no one could have anticipated.

Yeah you are probably right. I read last week it was going to drop soon. Looks like they are waiting until patch Tuesday unfortunately.

Bit confused there for a moment.

Tick and download of optional update KB4571744 just returned to running 'Check for updates' and completing with no result, and no other visible activity.
Only later (and after a reboot) saw the 'Restart required' in taskbar with KB4571744 pending restart, and.NET update still installing ...
