I currently have 20 of those antiviruses installed on my test PC, and another one on my main PC.

I've had 6 of those installed over the years, including WD itself. Not included on their list, I've also used the now-defunct Dr. Solomon (my first AV), CA antivirus, and eTrust. I'm amused to see Norton using the "Life Lock" name, considering the latter company got into some trouble for its ID theft protection claims. McAfee was at one time going to change its name to Intel antivirus but apparently never did.

I've had only 3 installed from that list and I'm missing Emsisoft there.

Trivia footnote: CA and eTrust Antivirus/Internet Security are part of the
    ancestry of Total Defense:

I've tested 15 of those as well as some others that are no longer around. Most of them didn't last more than a few hours.

    Hi,
That name change did actually happen, but was later reverted back.
You can see it happening for example in the thread about the No More Ransom project, here.
In the postings, in that thread, of the Europol Press Releases you can see it happening during the last 4 years.
McAfee was a co-founder (as you can see here), then later Press Releases did name it Intel Security, and then later it was again named McAfee.
See also, for example, this post by Ron.
And that post points to this article by Kevin Townsend.

There must be other posts here at Wilders about that all, I guess.

Thanks for the info. I found CA antivirus difficult to use on a dial-up connection, as it would automatically download huge program updates that couldn't be scheduled or paused. I had read that Intel had wanted to distance the McAfee AV product from John McAfee's name, esp. after his long-shot 2016 presidential bid which caused some controversy.

The name changed it back to McAfee on April 3rd, 2017 after a majority stake in Intel Security's division was purchased by TPG and at the same time was spun-off into it's own company (separate from Intel). Intel, however, does still own a minority state in McAfee.
