I tried Mailwasher Pro this morning and during install WV popped up alerts for Heur.ML.PE.C I pressed to quarantine but they do not show up in quarantine but are listed on the logs. Anyone know if there is a reason for the file not going to quarantine? Thanks
Thanks for your testing. We are eager for widespread use of WVSX as well and looking forward to feedback always.
Hi, Sorry for the inconvience. The files showing on the list are one file only actually. It's a temporary file which will be deleted by the installer immediately. The file has been already deleted when you clicked "Quarantine". So you can't find in WVSX. We have tested and this is a FP, it has been solved now.
rollers- yours is the feedback that is important. Far too many anti-malware applications in the past have gone overboard with how detections are made, resulting in a great deal of legitimate programs being marked as malicious. An ideal AM application should strive to have as close to 100% in both Sensitivity (detection of malware) and Specificity (not detecting legit programs as possibly malicious), so it's really nice to see WV taking immediate action on the Mailwasher program (glad I don't have to edit the algorithm).
No problem at all, glad to help out such a good program, its been a long time since I have tried anything so effective and light. Don't forget yourself though in the levels of importance, the world of cyber security needs cruelsister. I trust your findings above anyone elses
I've been using WV for a couple of weeks now without any issues on a heavily-used Win10 machine. The only notifications when scanning have been to flag up some Nirsoft progs in a folder here. Not an issue and reassuring that WV IS actually doing something! My only item for the wish list is for the developers to improve the legibility of the UI. For these tired old eyes the text is too small and too light, a problem common these days with developers and UI designers being about 15! Good job WiseVector.
Hi, Some programs produced by Nirsoft can read passwords stored in Browsers, which can be utilized by hackers (We have seen it be utilized by fareit trojan). So WiseVector StopX flags such programs as Risk Tools. Improving the design of the UI is on our to do list. Thanks for your feedback.
Nirsoft applications can be an issue as recent malware have been using NirSoft Remote Desktop PassView. Also some ransomware (like Dharma variants) have also been employing Iobit Unlocker to make encyption and deletion easier for the malware. Unlocker, however is not detected as riskware by WV, which is a good thing.
Perhaps it's not so much a case of bigger but perhaps making then less faded. In menu...check for updates.. the text 'receiving streaming update' is barely visible on my machine.
If this product is behavior based, it should be able to detect an unknown .exe running from user Temp directory creating a reg. key: https://success.trendmicro.com/solution/1118407-emerging-threat-on-fareit-resurgence .
In all of the menus just increasing the font size, weight of the type and darkening the text colour would be good.
OK, I understand. It's might caused by the transparent background of the UI. We will check and solve this in our next release.
Thanks for your suggestion, we would like to have a try and ensure the letters are clearer in the next release.
Yes, WiseVector StopX can detect Fareit based on behavior. Actually, in most case, we can detect Fareit just by static scanning.
WV is running fine on my pc. No problems so far - compatible with all my other apps. A couple of legit quarantines. So far, really good. Thanks.
@WiseVector I haven't read all of your post over at Malwaretips. But I'm curious, are you guys financially secure? I ask cause based on the positive feedback your product as gotten both here and in Malwaretips, it would be great shame if you guys aren't. As a normal user, from my perspective it doesn't seem easy for a new product to get into the security for home users market. Are you guys planning a business version? Perhaps it would help you guys in the long-run to focus there as well.
Hi, Can you please tell me the "legit quarantines" were flagged up by our static scanning or behavior detection? Have you uploaded them as FP via WiseVector StopX? Thank you!
Hi, Thanks for your concern. We don't have revenue at present, but our enthusiasm to make WiseVector StopX to be better is not fading always. We want it to be an excellent AV. Some advanced features will be charged in the future, that's our plan.
