I couldn't care less about what's "legal" or "illegal". I know for myself what's moral, and what's not. And that's all that matters to me. But of course, I don't want to get busted. So I practice the best OPSEC that I can tolerate.

There's some value in warning people to be careful, though :)

Appreciate this is an old thread but not sure where to make this post regarding Nord VPN so apologies if incorrect place, hopefully someone will re-route for me....
I have been using Express VPN for almost a year now. My location is Sarawak, Malaysia and I use VPN primarily to access catch up TV sites in USA (Tubi TV) and in United Kingdom - BBCiPlayer, ITV Hub, UKTV Play, Channel 4 and Channel 5. I also do some movie downloading on a couple of torrent sites. In the time I have been using Express I have never had a problem connecting to any of my preferred sites. However, my annual subscription is coming to an end and I have been on the lookout for a more economical alternative VPN, and I have tried just about all the major recommended ones. So far none have worked as well as Express, some cannot access BBCiPlayer or ITV Hub and most cannot access Channels 4 and 5 Catchup.
I have been attracted to Nord VPN mainly because it has a really good offer on right now which would more than halve my current Express subscription. I first tried it a month ago and didn't get good results, couldn't access BBC or ITV. I found a fault on my laptop and this week switched to using my wife's new laptop. My ISP connection speeds are high so there is no problem with download speed. I decided to try Nord again and they were good enough to agree to a 2nd try with a refund if not OK. My results were worse than the first trial and I could only access 3 of the 6 sites I want. Nord has plenty of good feedback from industry related reviewers, fantastic speed and connections to anywhere, unfortunately for me it turned out to be one of the worst of all I tried. Maybe my location does not help but have to say I tired of contacting their online chat to try to resolve the problems. So..... looking like having to re-contract with Express again, somewhat grudgingly since their charges are high and they are not supportive of existing customers in only offering some discount on their annual contract to new subscribers.

it's not your misfortune. nord is one of the worst vpn service providers in the market.
if you're using vpn only to avoid geo-blocking then you should go with smart dns. it's much cheaper, easier to set up on multiple devices and platforms (you can set it up on your router) and it doesn't affect your connection speed.
if vpn is a must for you, then i recommend you stick with express.

    Hi @imdb
Just when I was warming to NordVPN, I spot your comments above! But, you clearly rate ExpressVPN very highly. Out of interest, why is NordVPN "one of the worst VPN service providers in the market"? Sven Taylor at Restore Privacy currently places NordVPN in #2 position. Choosing a good VPN is a lottery, isn't it? I suspect the problem lies in the nature of the review process. A series of tests are conducted but it's only when a paying customer has a few months' experience with a product that the cracks begin to show. And, then, Customer Support gets put to the test. I don't suppose there are many real-life reviews that go to these lengths when evaluating VPN providers.

also, they use virtual servers for many locations claimed to have physical servers.

    Hi @imdb,

No wonder they're doing this offer:

2-year plan with 68% off! That’s online security for £2.86/mo.

Without Wilders, it would be impossible to choose a trustworthy VPN provider. And, once again, I'm very grateful to you for all your help.

Looks like ExpressVPN is the one to go for.

I questioned a long time ago how NordNPN could afford all of their expensive TV advertising. It’s mind-boggling. I cannot trust them. If even half of what is written at vpnscam is true, they are not worth our time.

I have only done enough research to confirm “enough” (for me) that I can no longer give Nord/Tesonet the benefit of the doubt. Simply not being upfront about ownership is disturbing when fronting as a legitimate company with huge sums of money being spent on TV advertising. Why not name names? A pic of the CEO? Why present yourself as a huge company through commercials only to act like a back alley outfit hiding details online? So much doesn’t add up. That money has to come from somewhere and that was my problem from the beginning.

Those great Nord reviews? Two words: affiliate money.

For me, Nord is yesterday’s news.
