Per Process Explorer, does it show lsass.exe running as PPL on your Win 10 2004 build?

    lsass_PE.png

-EDIT- @stapp I just created the RunAsPPL reg. key for lsass.exe and its now running as PPL. I swore it was running as PPL in Win 10 1909 by default. I wonder if the June cumulative update which included a patch for lsass.exe to fix blue screen issues set PPL off intentionally?

It's not even shown as being on its way on my ThinkPad. But I haven't restarted for three weeks. Maybe when I restart and let the pending cumulative updates install, I will either be offered 2004, or will receive a message about it being on its way.

Mine just received a v1909 cumulative update to build 1016, and is rebooted regularly (noisy fan bearing :D).

Maybe I'll get a new laptop before 20H1 comes in :isay:, or 20H2 comes in first!

One starts to wonder if something else is up, like broken WU ...

I think WU is working fine, as it has no problem finding and installing other updates. I'm not too worried anyway, as I'm sure I will receive the update eventually. This time, I've decided to wait, rather than upgrading from a 2004 ISO.

I did read a while back that there were issues with build 2004 on some Lenovo laptops. So maybe that's why I'm not seeing it offered yet.

The below explains my situation; old PC w/o UEFI or Secure Boot.
    https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/wi...agement/configuring-additional-lsa-protection

Additionally in the above situation, the reg. key must be protected from removal of RunAsPPL or changing setting value.

Acer Aspire 1909 Home, finally decided to install August updates incl. SSU, .NET update, and KB4565351. Everything went smoothly.

This was my first time installing on a SSD. I couldn't believe the entire process took only 12 min.! On my now-deceased HDD, a typical monthly update would take around 90 min. I had previously assumed the bottleneck was only having 4 GB of RAM, but that's obviously not the case.

Windows 1909 recognized the SSD correctly and set it up for weekly maintenance. Logs show TRIM ran twice, defrag once. I'm glad to know about the TRIM problem with 2004 and SSDs and will continue to hold off until it's fixed.

I'm glad it says this in that article....

I would think that it's a given fact that with millions of computers in the world you are always going to have a few that don't like a particular update.

Better late than never, but it's the kind of bug that should have been addressed one week after being reported... I wonder how many other issues are still pending...

By one estimate, guess when that might have been, in theory. :cautious:

    End of December 2019.

I've been running 20H2 for weeks. I haven't seen that this is fixed. I guess time will tell.

Edit: It may actually be fixed with the 19042.487 build they released yesterday. I just tested it and rebooted. It actually saved the last run date. Previous to that there was not one.

This is good to hear. I still have no idea why this was not addressed prior to the release of 2004.

Consider 2004 as the Beta and 20H2 AKA 2009 as the final. Just skip ahead and upgrade or you can wait for it to be officially out in a few weeks. Running 20H2 it's perfect. especially after yeterday's preview update which fixes:

It is running pretty well at this point. Definitely better than 2004.
