I found the best part of that article in the comments... If MS produced a linux OS it would be an option some people would like to experience. I'm sure it would be simple and easy to use, unlike the situation now. It would be an intro to linux that many would use, and then hopefully progress further into the OS. As @Gringo95 posted in another topic: "Linux has no more future now than it ever had... we have more than a hundred [options] with many having just a different software mix, scary themes and funny wallpaper."
The number 1 thing that would make a MS Linux OS take off is complete games support & 2 complete integration of Office. If it didn't have those it'd just be a passing fancy.
This is their server service (Azure) right? That likely is hosting the xbox cloud service right now. Is there a full blown desktop version?
MS might produce a linux distro IF there was potential profit involved. I would gladly pay for a MS Linux such as @zapjb described.
