    Hi ultim,
Where is the 64-bit exec? Latest update (3.0.5) only install the 32-bit version on my side. Thanks for TinyWall.

Only the installer is in 32-bit mode, this is to avoid having to distribute two different installer packages. The executable that are installed will still run in 64-bit mode on 64-bit machines.

As stated above, TinyWall will actually still run as a 64-bit application. Please don't mind the installer bitness or the install path.

I do not. I asked for the main executable TinyWall.exe, Detect It Easy (DIE) says it's a 32 bit exe.

You cannot use DIE for it. The exe is JIT-ted, and the process becomes either 64-bit or 32-bit only after you've started TinyWall. To verify this, you need a tool that looks at processes during execution, not at files on the disk. For example, Process Explorer. You'll see that TinyWall is a 64-bit application (on a 64-bit OS).

My bad, sorry. True, it's a 64-bit process. Thanks.

    Hi @Deathmaw ,
I have not forgotten about this. If I understood you correctly, you sometimes get that unusual volume-path format when using autolearn. I am almost ready with something that can be tested. Are you still around and interested? I'd send you something to try out in a couple of days.

Tried tinywall some time ago, but I was unable to whitelist a program called "Discord", yes I was able to whitelist the program itself, but something that the program need was still blocked so I couldn't connect. Known issue? I Haven't tried again lately.

Not a known issue, at least not specifically in relation to this application. Not knowing your original problem exactly makes it hard to tell if it is fixed now or not (or it if was something to be fixed at all), but TinyWall 3 fixed a lot of issues compared to version 2.1. In the upcoming version next week there is also a relatively important fix for autolearn which prevented some apps from being learned by this mode. I suggest you wait until I announce the new version in this forum thread in a couple of days, and then try it out. Chances are your problem will be fixed. Any issues that are clearly bugs and not feature requests I generally fix in the next release, so TinyWall 3 doesn't have a lot of known issues, exceptions being those which I cannot reproduce on my own machines.

I tried to install TinyWall for testing, using Shadow Defender. After several minutes, it produced the pop-up shown ==> ScreenHunter_01 Jul. 11 15.26.gif

I wonder -- is TinyWall not capable of being installed under ShadowDefender? Any opinions?

Just tried and have it installed and working. Using SD 1.4.0.680. Tiny Wall V3 downloaded from website.
I usually also use Sbie at the same time but using 5.33.6 msi installer don't work so just using SD.
I am presuming you meant 'installable' and not 'uninstallable' bellgamin?

Hmmm... I'm using SD 1.4.0.680, also. It is TW V3 that I tried to install, but couldn't. Other apps install just fine but they all use their own (.exe) installers, not .msi. I suppose that .msi is broken for my computer.

UAC issue ? (just throwing that out there)
    AV interference?

Have a read here of all this thread (before you even consider doing anything)
I know it's not the same error message but you never know.

    Hi bellgamin,
    1) For a quick and dirty way to find out if MSI is broken on your system, you could try installing another app that is known to be small, harmless and easy to install, such as 7-zip. You can uninstall it easily without leaving harmful traces if the test succeeds.
    2) If MSI is working in general but you cannot install TinyWall, please start the installer from a command prompt using: msiexec /i TinyWallInstaller.msi /l*v msilog.txt
This will create msilog.txt in the current directory. When the installation fails, send this file to me and also any files under C:\ProgramData\TinyWall\logs (if it exists), which might also be written to during installation.

Make sure you are trying to install the latest version.

    Say hi to TinyWall 3.0.7.

As it turns out, TinyWall's digital certificate is going to expire very shortly, which means I won't be able to make new signed releases before I get a new one, and that might take weeks. So, I wanted to get this release out while the current one is still valid to avoid delays.

The small version bump from 3.0.6 to 3.0.7 might deceive you into thinking there is nothing interesting going on here, but you'll be surprised if you look closer. First of all, remember when I removed network share support in 3.0.0 and said it's only temporary? I really meant temporary, not "permanent temporary" as it is often in software projects. 3.0.7 fulfills that promise and adds back support for network shares and network drives. Possibly more important for a lot of people though is the completely new support for both WSL and WSL 2, a popular community request. Then there are some fixes to make autolearn work reliably, and finally, some miscellaneous changes here and there. For details please consult Mr. Release Notes:

    Code:
    TinyWall 3.0.7 (12.07.2020.):
    - Add support for WSL
    - Add support for WSL 2
    - Add support for whitelisting from network shares and network drives
    - Fix autolearn doesn't detect short-lived processes
    - Fix autolearn handling of non-win32 file paths
    - Fix service crash if multiple exceptions with the same path apply to child processes
    - Don't log expected exceptions during system shutdown
    - Don't show System process as a missing app, and add icon for it
    - Updated Italian localization

As always, you can get the latest official release from the homepage.

I don't usually call out explicitly for donator support in the forums, but I'll let myself do this once now due to the imminent expiry of the digital certificate. These things are far from free, they need to be renewed regularly, and I'm about to buy a new one yet again. If you think you can afford to support me with just 1$ per month, please visit here. I think 1$ is something any single person could afford, but if many users did it it'd enough for TinyWall to cover these recurring costs. So, thanks for considering it.

I installed & uninstalled 7z1900.msi with no problem. However, when I attempted your #2) second requirement, I got the following negative results. GO FIGURE!

In that command line TinyWallInstaller.msi is the name of the installer file you downloaded. So that needs to be TinyWall-v3-Installer.msi (unless you renamed it), giving:
    msiexec /i TinyWall-v3-Installer.msi /l*v msilog.txt

    Sorry

Yes, I figured that out so I renamed it TinyWallInstaller.msi BEFORE doing the cmd.exe as illustrated above.

Are you in the right directory? You are executing the command from "c:\users\new user", but the download would be usually in one of the the Desktop, Downloads, or Documents subfolders.
