Bummer. I guess for now I am in a holding pattern then. Thanks.

Same here... also with a Samsung SSD.
Hoping for a fix next Patch Tuesday.

Thanks a lot for the suggestion, xxJackxx. :) Like your SanDisk, I have the Western Digital dashboard but haven't installed it. Does anyone use this? I thought of popping in my Samsung 970 EVO but now I see above me that the Magician apparently uses Windows disk optimizer, just what I don't need.

So, it's sort of in limbo but definitely not urgent. Does anyone know if HDTune or Hard Disk Sentinel checks things like this? The websites don't say specifically. Minimalist mentioned Defraggler but I don't have practical experience with that. I guess I'll just run the Windows one in a month or so as a rough guess.

I have the same problem, the MS utility doesn't remember, and as Gandalf The Grey noted, Samsung Magician uses MS optimizer. I can wait, as long the damn thing doesn't try to defragment my SSD.

Thanks plat1098. From my memory, that is the first time I've had problems with the upgrade process, although I have had various bugs after the upgrade at different times.

Just checked and I see I have the same problem on my Dell XPS PC300 NVMe SK hynix 256GB SSD.

Contains C:\ and D:\ for data; optimisation now unticked as per BleepingComputer article: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ne...t-defragger-bug-defrags-ssd-drives-too-often/

Now to remember to retick those drives when MS fixes it - hopefully will be noted in this thread.

Another possible problem in 2004. There is no option to defer feature and quality updates any more. No more option using GUI or registry key. There are still group policy options available but IDK if they work since there is no registry keys any more. It might be just inconsistency.
I will try to set defer quality updates period using Gpedit before next updates and see if it actually does anything.

    Don't think it's strange.
There were security flaws caused by 2 store apps.
They just made an update for those 2 apps available through the store.
That's how those apps should be getting an update.

Looking at ShutUp10 configuration there is an option to "Disable automatic app updates through Windows update". I wonder if Windows can update apps using Windows update also?
