Great info--wasn't aware this was such a recent (4/2020) offering. OK, thanks a lot, stapp, :thumb:

Yes, I have used uBO/uM combination on several occasions over the years, but currently not ... find uM a bit too 'fiddly', and would prefer to just use uBO in medium mode.

Thanks for a second recommendation here for LocalCDN. I am using it on my test machine, but still Decentraleyes on my 'prod' machine.
I do think LocalCDN is now more evolved, but Mozilla still recommends Decentraleyes ... do you think it's dev has lost interest?

    Enough OT, I guess. :)

Same here. Used to use uBlock and uMatrix together. Now only uBlock and replaced Decentraleyes with Localcdn a while ago.

Well, I don't care what Mozilla recommends. :p
LocalCDN is the best now, IMHO. Covers much more CDN resources.
I don't know what happened to the developer of Decentraleyes...

As for uBO in medium mode; for me it's not that user friendly and concerning uMatrix; I visit not that many websites, so when I have configured them to my liking,
I don't have to fiddle with it that much any more. :)

Hard mode for me makes uBlock origin the most efficient and complete extension of its kind.
By nooping globally all domains or subdomains of all resources needed by many websites today, browsing is a breeze with unnecessary third parties blocked all the time and filterlists cleaning annoyances in the background. I am amazed to visit new websites and have nothing to do, except sometimes noop locally a subdomain or noop globally another resource domain that will later be used for other websites.

I don't know why this is such a widespread misconception. As an extension, uBO will act before any external blocker solution.

The browser asks uBO whether a network request should be fired, uBO answers "no", hence no network request is fired, hence whatever external blocker there is beyond your browser is not going to see the cancelled network requests: they all act on network requests which have been fired by the browser.

Interesting test, which like all tests is often an end in itself.;)
It is interesting to note that my best score is the one in which I use identical settings in this and other forums.

    86/100:

    400.JPG

The score is identical with uBlock Origin in medium mode.
The score with the help of the uBlock Origin filter lists only is 76/100.
Score of only 67/100 with all the scripts blocked by Noscript.

With only AdBlock chrome Ext i scored 78. With only UBO i scored 77. Added UBO AdGuard Base and went up 10 points to 87. With only Chrome built in adblocking i scored 69.

80/100 with uBO in hard mode, everything was blocked, I'm having some doubts about the efficacy of this test...:thumbd:

And if you also add uMatrix?

  14. patriki

Yes, but what will uMatrix bring or noscript.

I use Firefox 79 beta & uBO dev. But there are several tests that failed or couldn't be tested, like flash, gif, image, sentry, google analytics.

So I think my score is 200/100  :D

I've discovered what causes my result to be 100/100. :)

    screenshot-RU.png
    When unchecked I get 90/100.

So it all depends on which filter lists you have enabled.

Good point, with FR & RU locales filterlists, my score is 100/100 with uBO hard mode again.

So this test depends mainly on the filterlists. :isay:

I think it's due to these entries in the RU adlist:
    Code:
    ! Checkadblock (adblock-tester.com) - портфолио веб-мастера, выдаваемое за тест
    $third-party,image,script,xmlhttprequest,domain=adblock-tester.com|checkadblock.ru
    /banners/*$domain=adblock-tester.com|checkadblock.ru
    adblock-tester.com,checkadblock.ru##object,embed
    ||adblock-tester.com^$csp=script-src 'self'
    ||checkadblock.ru^$csp=script-src 'self'
Doesn't make much sense to block things on a test site...

Did a small test. Unchecked all filters except for Easy Privacy and Easylist under Adds and Privacy and score was 86/100
Adding Addguard Base under Adds gave me 91/100.
Enabling the others under Adds and Privacy did not show a change in score. Not sure what else this site checks, but all my other filters being on or off did not make a difference in the score, although turning on uBlock filters – Privacy gave me 1 point less.o_O

Only managed 79/100 on mobile phone using same filters.:doubt: Turning off uBlock filters – Privacy gave me 2 points more and adding RU Addlist pushed it to 100/100 :D

Turning All filters off gave me a score of 69/100. Using only the RU Adlist filter gave me a score of 100/100. :'(

This trick will save you time trying to tweak your filter lists to get a better score.:p

As I have already written, each test is an end in itself.;)
Probably the developer has foreseen a total block of the scripts, which gets a low score, because it is not the purpose of the test.

With only Noscript (uBlock Origin disabled for the test page) I get 69/100.
More than enough as an adblocking feature when compared with Opera Android's built-in adB functionality.

This should be the real purpose of this test.:)

The revision of the various lists in uBlock Origin was prolific because it allowed me to optimize the performance in my old PC, decreasing the number of cosmetic filters which despite being necessary have a negative impact on performance.:):thumb:
    My current value is 53958.
    Network filters is 140336.

Yes, earlier. I noticed a small improvement also, tiny actually, but hey, it's noticeable--with chromium Edge.

As for the test, with my combination of built-in and import, it was 86/100 without the ru option enabled. Hmmm. So, it would seem the test is skewed to favor one and only one option. Thanks, I'm good, bye.:)

If you get an "Empty Block" for Flash banners and you acknowledge it, your score will increase by 5 points.

True dat. I think for every list I add from now on, I have to ensure I can remove at least one. I hate bloat and redundancy.
