Hear! Hear! I have the Sony Xperia XZ2 mentioned in that article. And while its size is compact, and its display is great, it has had some compatibility issues with Bluetooth devices since the day I bought it. And it is the Sony because the Samsung S4 Mini the Sony replaced worked perfectly with the Bluetooth pairing with my home phone, my truck, and my blood pressure monitor. The problem with the Samsung is it refused to stay put on top of my back bumper during a 10 mile ride. So I agree again with the author and wish Samsung would release a nice compact phone - one that is not tablet size that will actually fit in my pocket or shirt pouch when I hit the bicycle trails.
That's one of the reasons I've been using 5S, SE and am using SE2 now. SE2 has a little bigger screen but still it's not to large for my liking.

I became used to, and very comfortable, with the concept and have continued to use a belt clip/holster with all my phones- from the first small Nokia, to my BB9900, and with my current iPhone8 [4.7"]. It doesn't fall out of my shirt pocket, and I never leave it on a table/desk and forget to take it with me. Not every solution suits all but it works for me.
My now long gone Motorola E815 clamshell was (for me), the best small portable pack around handset I ever owned. This thing could clip to the belt or drop in the pocket with room to spare. Functionally it was magnificent in that I could take snap on-the-go short videos or photos then press a button to land them in Flickr Gallery. Mine had an extended life battery so it didn't need a recharge every day. Miss those clams. Later got a Star Trek looking transparent see thru flip screen I still have to this day but its branded by Verizon and besides never came close to the Moto E815 in performance or durability. Would like to see some handset makers push out a few of those types once again with the higher end chipsets.
Fine for those who like iPhones. I prefer Android. I ride a bicycle ~30 miles per day - weather permitting (above 55°F and not raining). I like to take my cell phone with me in the event I have a problem bigger than a punctured tube. A belt holster does not cut it. Also, unlike many, I do not live on my cell phone. My cell phone does not control my life. I bought my cell phone because I'm no spring chicken and I live in Nebraska where the weather could hardly be called nice in the winter. People freeze to death every year because they slide off ice roads, etc. Instead, my PC controls my life and I will give up my full sized keyboard, real mouse, surround sound speakers, and two 24 inch monitors when I am dead, and not before. Period. End of discussion. Drop the mic.
If I could get a Motorola, LG or possibly a Google phone a 16:9 7" screen high screen to body ratio, stereo spkrs, headphone jack, sd card slot. Under $250 used I'd buy that. Otherwise I'm holding on to my 2014 Nexus 6 with 8.1 Oreo as long as I can.
