Now all you need to do is add back "Secure Rules" and remove the telemetry and WFC would be worth updating again. Seriously, please add back "Secure Rules", make it a hidden feature even, like (up up down down left right left right ba).

About the X button from text boxes, I removed it for now but I did not have time to come up with a better alternative. I will add a similar button in the next WFC release. I did some changes in code and that button had to go for now.
And make it 49.99 USD subscription based :) I am joking, this will not happen. That version of Secure Rules will not come back. Too many support emails generated by that implementation. However, when I have some free time I will see if it can be added in parallel (as a hidden feature) without much hassle. But I do not promise anything.

I was in a hurry and was inattentive. Connections log does not load, "Please wait ..." spinning endlessly.
Notifications work, there are entries in the Windows Firewall connection log, the options were turned off and on again, the audit from the command line was turned on, the installation over the top and clean - did not help. No new entries in Event Viewer - Applications and Services Logs - WFC.
    Return to v6.1.0.0 - everything is OK. Windows 10 v1809 x64.

    Hi

I just installed this program for the first time in years. Then it had an alternative about system rules which i can not see now. What has happened with it and how is that functioning now?

IF you mean with system rules the rules via GPO (GPedit.msc), you can't handle that with WFC.

Works here. Try the button Clear log and also change the combo boxes to other values and see if it works.

I am not sure what "alternative about system rules" mean. I think you are looking for Rules Panel. Check the tray icon right click context menu, or even better, the user manual.

When i installed it back then, there were an alternative to not accept "system" rules, or to accept them. One could then allow them selectively after installation if one did not allowed them during installation.

    Shurely you must remember this!?

Well, if you enable Medium Filtering profile which sets Windows Firewall to automatically block outbound connections that are not allowed by a firewall rule, and if you enable the Notifications in WFC then you can selectively allow programs when they are blocked. During installation you can add a few rules named "WFC recommended rules" which, in case you don't add at installation, you can add them later from Rules Panel right click context menu.

But, based on your description with "system" rules, are you sure you did not remember Windows 7 Firewall Control from SphinxSoft ? In their free version, system programs, installed in C:\Windows\* are by default allowed. Once you activate their software you can create rules for system programs.

Well, now you make me uncertain since you should know but, no, there where an alternative to not allow system rules and then one could allow them selectively afterwards. It made me irritated as a computer newbie because i did not really know what i was doing. Thats why i remembered it.

Am i really that of base?

Anyway, is Windows all services and functions allowed by default now or how is it?

Windows Firewall has some default rules and some of them are targeting Windows services. IF you really want to block anything until you allow it, then just delete all firewall rules, enable Medium Filtering profile and the notifications and then you can achieve what you want. To make it easy for you, once you delete all the rules, give it a try to "WFC recommended rules" which will add a few rules that in general you will want, or not. It is up to you.

    Ok.
Maybe i am making a lot of fuss about nothing since what i want to accomplish is to block all Windows telemetry. There are other programs for that.

How do i delete all firewall rules, do i restore Windows d.o or WFC recommended d.o.?

You know this really *************, this attitude of your, instead of making a great product with many features you always fall back to the line of "too many support emails" wah, wah, it's your damn job after all, don't like it? Then flip burgers. Are you familiar with O&O ShutUp10? Imagine them, after getting some "e-mails" dumbing down their product into plastic scissors because someone's microphone stopped working after them toggling the "disable microphone" option, like hur-dur, or imagine an AV company like Malwarebytes after getting some "false positive" e-mails, whelp, guess you might as well dumb that down too and make it so it won't block potential "suspicious" things... better safe then sorry right? Na, support e-mails...

You have many ways of handling these "thousands and thousands of e-mails" you supposedly got and spent all your free time on, you already had a mini pop-up/warning box, you could've expanded that to be less easy to ignore or include more info about what it does and might break (but don't, that would annoy your power users), heck you could just put in big red letters next to your e-mail address "IF YOU ARE COMING TO COMPLAIN ABOUT YOUR STORE NOT UPDATING APPS DISABLE THE "SECURE RULES" AND TRY AGAIN, ALSO READ THE SECURE RULES DOCUMENTIONS/DISCRIPTION". I bet that would stop a lot of these. But whatever I guess, seems "the new you" now deems it acceptable that things are the way they are and how things behave.

My job does not include supporting WFC, the new owner wanted me for other projects, like this one and other corporate tools. I am doing this in my free time because I don't want WFC to become abandonware. Binisoft and WFC is still a one man show as of today. It is not fair to compare it with businesses that have allocated entire teams for support tickets, developers that work on new features, testers that find bugs, etc. I'm still here responding to user's questions, I'm still responding to emails, I am still fixing WFC when something gets broken. I just can't afford to spend 8+ hours a day, dedicating my time to WFC like I did a few years ago. "don't like it?" Me neither, but this is how things are now.

If he works for Malwarebytes he is very good with the code, as Malwarebytes is one of the companies that has the best professionals. And in his free time he spends answering questions and doubts about WFC, which is admirable since he might not do it and yet he does it.

A little empathy and respect does not come amiss.

    Thank for your understanding.

I have seen abuse before, but this has to be over the top
There is no reason for this sort of diatribe.

    Shame on you @Special

One off topic question: which VPN protocol is used by MB Privacy? Wireguard or some other?
