I forced the 2004 update with the Windows10Upgrade9252.exe update tool on one of my computers, and it seemed to take longer than I thought it should have.
When it rebooted, my secondary hard drive was missing and I couldn't get it working again, so I had to do an image restore.

The obvious thing to look at is the controller driver, but it was there.
And as well as that, my primary and tertiary drives were using the same Intel(R) ICH10R SATA AHCI Controller and still working.

I wonder why forcing the update can cause compatibility issues as opposed to waiting for it via Windows Update.

A list of known compatibility holds here: https://www.bleepingcomputer.com/ne...vestigating-ten-windows-10-2004-known-issues/
but I don't see one specifically related to your issue ...

    Thanks for that info, Paul.
I think I'll just wait until it comes to me.
Then I'll deal with any problem that still may exist.

It's a Bumpy Road for the Windows 10 Version 2004 Rollout

My newly built computer got the update via Windows Update not long after I assembled it.
    No issues.

I guess I was lucky, updating it with Upgrade Assistant. So far I haven't notice any problems. IDK if Upgrade Assistant checks for known incompatibilities and notifies user about possible problems?

    Also just waiting ...

I do get the: 'The Windows 10 May 2020 Update is on its way. We’re offering this update to compatible devices, but your device isn’t quite ready for it. Once your device is ready, you’ll see the update available on this page. There’s nothing you need to do at this time.' message on my ThinkPad Yoga 4th Gen (Conexant drivers?) ...
but nothing after checking for updates, and no such message, on my Dell XPS 8th Gen or another ThinkPad 7th Gen.

May be a regional hold (South Africa) ...

Edit: Agree with Woody on this one: 'Indeed, the message should say, “Windows isn’t ready for your computer,” instead of putting the shoe on the other, erroneous foot.' :isay:

I just checked for updates (after imaging my machine) on this Win10 x64 1909 machine and got the message that I was up to date. No message mentioning my machine wasn't ready, or any mention of 2004. Guess I'll be waiting too. I'm not interested in forcing the upgrade at this time.

I just had to restore another computer after forcing the 2004 update due to numerous problems too many to list.
Whatever you do, ensure you create an image before updating to 2004.
It's not worth the heartache and frustration.

I forced 2004 with Microsoft Update (foolishly, I guess) but so far no problems, probably because my Optane Memory is only 16GB, and pinning cannot be done for under 32GB Optane Memory. Pinning seems to be the problem with Optane Memory.

I just updated Windows 10 to version 19041.329 and installed Office 2013 updates and didn't experience any problems.

Same here. Cumulative KB4557957 took the build number for Win 10 2004 to 19041.329
Installed 'twice'' (therefor included a service stack update)
Also a new Flash Player version.
    Everything quick and painless.

I have a PC that is not picking up KB4557957. It found some Office updates and installed them. Rebooted. Still says it's up to date.

You absolutely have the talent and gifts to be a great writer. I have a lot of sympathy for the old OS that was gone with the disk flattening.:shifty::shifty:

Is it worth getting an Intel Optane Memory module?
I just built a new computer, but didn't bother with it.

Same here, no problems that I can perceive of so far with 19041.329, although my daughter's computer win10 64 - 1909 keeps reporting an error...
I have however something unusual, cleaning up with 'Disk Cleanup' the update leftover only yielded 40 MB, normally it is about 2-3 GB...

I forgot it was Patch Tuesday Wednesday today. After checking for updates 2004 is now waiting to install on this machine. Running Macrium Reflect as I type this before I begin.

No sign of it yet on my other, older laptop as yet.
